Fighting malaria and supporting Health in Kootingli.
Tab-bu Foundation has continued its commitment to improving health outcomes in rural communities by organising a malaria sensitisation program and facilitating National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) support at Kootingli in the Tamale South Constituency.
The initiative aimed to educate residents on malaria prevention, symptoms, and the importance of early treatment, given the high prevalence of the disease at this time of the year. Health officers and volunteers engaged the community through interactive health talks and discussions on environmental sanitation to reduce mosquito breeding sites.
As part of the intervention, mosquito nets — donated to the Foundation by the Metropolitan Health Directorate of Tamale — were distributed to all children under the age of five, providing them with vital protection against malaria. Additionally, the Foundation partnered with NHIS officials to carry out new registrations and renewals for children under 13 years, ensuring that the youngest members of the community have access to affordable healthcare services.
This combined approach addressed both preventive and financial barriers to healthcare, reflecting the Foundation’s holistic commitment to community well-being.
Tab-bu Foundation remains dedicated to empowering vulnerable communities through health education, access to essential services, and sustained community engagement.
