More exciting memories from World Cleanup Day 2026, CORD Ghana, together with our partners and community members, took action in Tamale Shishegu to restore the environment and reclaim shared spaces.

We rolled up our sleeves, cleared choked gutters, removed accumulated waste and cleaned up rubbish along the roadsides.

But beyond the waste we removed, we were reminded of something bigger: when a community comes together, change becomes visible.

Every cleared gutter means better drainage.
Every piece of waste collected means a safer environment.
Every helping hand is a message that our communities are worth protecting.

At CORD Ghana, we believe environmental change begins with people who care enough to act.

Together, we can keep our communities clean, healthy and resilient.

The CORD Tree Party 2026 is more than just planting trees. It is a commitment to restoring our environment, strengthening communities, and nurturing a greener and sustainable future.

This year, Center for Opportunities and Rural Development-CORD-GHANA distributed 12,000 tree seedlings, including Baobab, Shea, Dawadawa, Leucaena, and Moringa seedlings to support tree planting and restoration across .

But for us, the work does not end when a seedling goes into the ground.

The CORD Tree Party is an action built upon every year. Through regular monitoring, follow-ups, and community engagement, we track previously planted seedlings and encourage their care and protection to ensure they survive and continue growing.

Because planting a tree is only the beginning. Protecting it is what creates lasting impact.

Together, we are planting today, nurturing tomorrow, and growing a greener Ghana.

Center for Opportunities and Rural Development-CORD-GHANA at World Shea Expo 2026

CORD Ghana was pleased to participate as a partner to the World Shea Expo 2026, contributing to conversations shaping the future of Ghana’s shea industry.

Esther Nyamekye Opoku, Director of Programs and Policy represented CORD Ghana on a four-member panel discussion on “Scaling Shea Enterprises: From Informal Production to Competitive, Investment-Ready Businesses.”

The conversation reinforced the need to move beyond informal production by strengthening skills, value addition, entrepreneurship, market access and business development.

This aligns closely with CORD Ghana’s work to support communities, women and young people with practical skills and opportunities that can transform local resources into sustainable livelihoods and viable enterprises.

We believe that scaling shea enterprises means investing in people, strengthening businesses and creating pathways from local production to competitive markets.

Today, Center for Opportunities and Rural Development-CORD-GHANA joins all Ghanaians in commemorating Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Day.

We remember a visionary leader whose dream went beyond political independence. He believed in a Ghana where freedom, unity, education, innovation, social justice and sustainable development would create opportunities for every citizen.

His legacy reminds us that independence is not only about the freedom we inherited, but also about the responsibility we carry to build the Ghana we want.

As we remember Osagyefo, may we continue to ask ourselves: What are we doing with the freedom and opportunities we have today?

At CORD Ghana, we believe meaningful development begins when people, especially women, young people and communities, are empowered to become active agents of change.

The work continues. The vision lives on. The future is ours to build.

The International Day of Democracy, observed annually on 15 September, is a global call to reflect on the health of our democracies and renew our commitment to inclusive governance. The 2026 theme, “When every voice counts, democracy delivers,” reminds us that democracy is far more than elections; it is about meaningful participation, protection of human rights, rule of law, and ensuring that women, youth, and marginalized groups have a real seat at the decision-making table.

At the Center for Opportunities and Rural Development-CORD-GHANA, we believe democracy starts at the community level. From empowering rural voices in local governance to promoting accountability and civic education in Sagnerigu and beyond, we work to make sure no voice is left unheard. As we mark this day, let us all commit to listening deeper, engaging actively, and building institutions that truly deliver for the people.
