SDD Ghana has officially begun Phase 2 of the Children’s Assembly initiative under the STAR-Ghana Foundation sponsored Volunteerism project. Deepening understanding of the District Assembly concept and sustainability of the Children’s Assemblies is at the center of our approach.

As part of our stakeholder consultations, we paid a courtesy visit to the Director of Education, Ghana Education Service (GES) – Tolon District to discuss stronger collaboration and the next steps toward establishing Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs) with GES.
These MOUs will help embed the Children’s Assembly concept within local education and governance structures, so young people can continue learning civic leadership, participation, and responsible citizenship for years to come.

We are grateful to the District Director of Education and his team for the warm reception and constructive engagement. We are also grateful to our untiring and passionate volunteers who have been critical to deepening understanding of local governance.

📢 𝐘𝐨𝐮𝐭𝐡 𝐕𝐨𝐢𝐜𝐞𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐀𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧!

On March 27, 2025, the Nyankpala Children’s Assembly, led by Hon. Moses Kolog, submitted a petition to the Tolon District Education Directorate, highlighting the urgent need for Science, Ghanaian Language, and Creative Arts teachers at Nyankpala D/A JHS "A".

The Nyankpala Children Assembly is a product of the Social Accountability and Inclusion Project being implemented by SDD Ghana with funding and technical support from the STAR-Ghana Foundation.

The petition was also shared with the headmaster, the Assembly Member, and the Paramount Chief of Nyankpala. This bold step by the children is a clear call to prioritize quality education and ensure every learner gets the support they need. 🙌📚

The Board Members of SDD Ghana, led by our Chairman, Dr. Sadat Salifu, recently visited the Children’s Assembly Clubs in the Tolon District as part of our ongoing initiative, Social Accountability and Inclusion through Children Assemblies.

This initiative is designed to empower children to become active participants in promoting accountability and inclusiveness within their communities. During the visit, the board engaged with club members, explaining the project’s goals and potential benefits while encouraging them to prioritize their education.

In a show of support, the board announced plans to personally fund extra classes for third-year students to help them prepare for their upcoming exams. Dr. Sadat Salifu emphasized that this support is part of our commitment to helping the students excel academically and grow as future leaders dedicated to social accountability and inclusivity.

This visit reflects SDD Ghana’s dedication to fostering transparency, equal opportunities, and holistic development for the next generation. Together, we are shaping a brighter and more inclusive future!
