This impactful mental health awareness poster was created by Tahiru Shawal-Deen, a Graphic Design participant in our STEP I Project, and presented as a final project during our graduation ceremony.

Through a striking visual of a person silenced by hands covering their mouth, the design powerfully illustrates the reality that many people struggle in silence due to fear, stigma, and judgment. The bold green and yellow color palette reinforces the message of hope, healing, and support, while the call to action, "Speak Up. You Are Not Alone," encourages individuals to seek help and start conversations about their mental well-being.

The artwork reminds us that every voice matters and that breaking the silence is the first step toward healing. By combining powerful imagery with clear messaging, Shawaldeen demonstrates how graphic design can be a catalyst for awareness, advocacy, and social impact.

This compelling mental health awareness campaign was designed by Mustashira Sualisu, a Graphic Design participant in our STEP I Project, and presented as a final project during the graduation ceremony.

Inspired by the realities of life in Northern Ghana, the design blends powerful symbolism with a message of hope and support. The iconic baobab tree, a symbol of resilience, strength, and community, forms the foundation of the visual concept. Its branches creatively merge into human profiles and a brain, representing the connection between mental well-being, healing, and human relationships.

The inclusion of the familiar tricycle, popularly known as "Yellow Yellow," reflects one of the most common means of transport in Northern Ghana. Branded with the message "Journey Towards Healing," it symbolizes that recovery is a journey, one that no one should travel alone.

At the center of the design, an embrace between two individuals highlights the importance of compassion, understanding, and support in overcoming mental health challenges. Together with the bold message "YOU'RE NOT ALONE" and the call to "Speak Up, Seek Help," the artwork encourages open conversations and challenges the stigma surrounding mental health.

Congratulations to Mustashira for successfully completing the STEP I Project and for demonstrating how design can tell stories, reflect culture, and inspire positive social change.
