Generosity Week December 1 - 5

03/09/2026

What does generosity look like beyond donating?

It can be our time, skills, care, knowledge, resources — or simply showing up for others and our communities.

This December, IAVE and GivingTuesday are coming together for Generosity Week, December 1–5, a week to recognize and celebrate the many ways people give.

Join us for the Generosity Week kickoff webinar on September 8 to learn more and explore how you can be part of it: bit.ly/launchgenweek

Gifty is a professional teacher with the Ghana Education Service (GES) and a committed volunteer with the Centre for Volunteerism and Social Transformation (CENVAST). Through the School and Library Assistance Programme (SLAP) at the Takoradi Library, she supports children's learning by facilitating guided reading sessions, providing one-on-one coaching, and assisting with library activities that promote literacy and reading skills. Working closely with library staff, Gifty helps create an engaging environment that encourages children to read and learn. Her dedication shows how volunteerism complements formal education by expanding access to quality learning opportunities and inspiring the love for reading.

The Centre for Volunteerism and Social Transformation (CENVAST) is excited to announce its partnership with Mission Des Jeunes (MDJ) in Togo to promote South–South Volunteer Exchange Cooperation through the flagship Volunteer-led Skills Transfer and Mentorship Programme (V-STaMP).
This partnership will empower volunteers in Ghana and Togo to exchange knowledge, transfer practical skills, mentor young people, and co-create sustainable solutions that strengthen communities across both countries. It also strengthens our School and Library Assistance Programme (SLAP), giving volunteers opportunities to support education, literacy, library activities, and youth development while promoting cross-cultural learning and regional integration.

Behind every successful global event are thousands of volunteers who give their time, skills, and passion to serve. The FIFA World Cup 2026 is a powerful reminder of this impact. 65,000 volunteers were selected from over one million applicants to support the tournament across 16 host cities, helping to create a seamless experience for players, fans, and visitors from around the world.
Volunteerism is more than service; it is leadership, community spirit, and active citizenship in action. When people choose to volunteer, they strengthen communities, inspire others, and contribute to the success of initiatives that leave lasting social and economic impact.
