Zomayi D/A ARS Basic School in the North Tongu District of the Volta Region, Ghana has received a significant educational boost following the donation of 400 textbooks and additional learning materials through the efforts of Engineer Dela Quarcoo Bedzra.
The donation was made possible through his professional network with the Rotary E-Club of One World D5240, reflecting a shared commitment to strengthening basic education in rural communities and making impacts.
Engr. Dela Quarcoo Bedzra, a dedicated volunteer with the Centre for Volunteerism and Social Transformation (CENVAST), facilitated the partnership to address the persistent shortage of teaching and learning materials in underserved schools. The 400 textbooks, alongside other educational resources, are expected to improve access to curriculum-aligned content and enhance classroom instruction.
In many rural schools, limited textbook availability constrains effective teaching and independent learning. It is anticipated that improving the pupil-to-book ratio, will increase retention and strengthen literacy, numeracy, and overall academic performance among pupils.
The school authorities and community members present expressed appreciation for the timely intervention, noting that the materials will go a long way in improving learning outcomes of the school children. The school children also expressed their gratitude and thanked the donors for the kind gesture.
The initiative highlights CENVAST’s broader mission to promote volunteerism as a strategic tool for sustainable community development. IAVE Global Volunteering Forum Rotary International E-Club of One World D5240 Centre for Volunteerism and Social Transformation
