On a vibrant day, now etched in our memories, the 28th of October, 2023, marked a significant event hosted by the Pokuaa Balm of Gilead Foundation at Pentecost Hope Assembly, situated behind Jemima Hospital in Kwesimintsim. This groundbreaking initiative featured a crucial Free Breast Cancer Screening program, complemented by invaluable Free NHIS registration and renewals, along with a spectrum of other vital services.

_Guided by the visionary leadership of Dr. Mrs. Yaa Pokuaa Baiden, the founder of the Pokuaa Balm of Gilead Foundation and Deputy CEO HR/Admin of NHIA, this event drew the active participation of over 650 residents from Kwesimintsim and its environs. These individuals recognized the importance of prioritizing their health and NHIS needs without the burden of financial constraints._

Dr. Mrs. Yaa Pokuaa Baiden, leading by example, not only orchestrated the event but also took a proactive role in educating attendees about the pivotal battle against Breast Cancer. She emphasized the urgency of this fight, underscoring that early detection is a critical factor in saving lives.

On December 22nd, 2023, at Freeman Methodist Church in Kwesimintsim, the Pokuaa Balm of Gilead Foundation hosted a Free Health Screening Event. The screening covered essential tests, including Malaria, Hepatitis B, H Pylori, and Blood Pressure (BP), alongside providing valuable information on drug usage and other related services.

Moreover, participants received enlightening sessions emphasizing the significance of prioritizing their health and the advantages associated with possessing an NHIS card.

This event witnessed the active involvement of over 500 participants in Kwesimintsim, who embraced the opportunity to address their health concerns and NHIS requirements without incurring any financial burdens.

*2023 Activities*

The *Pokuaa Foundation* on 24th and 25th of May, 2023, organized a two day *Free Health Screening, NHIS Registration and Renewal in collaboration with Health Professionals* at the *Assakae Roman Catholic Church and Mpatado Methodist Church* respectively.

The exercise was initiated to help bring quality health care to the doorsteps of people in the *Assakae and Whindo* for the day one and *Mpatado-Adientem* for day two.

Addressing them, the founder of Pokuaa Foundation, *Mrs. Yaa Pokuaa Baiden* thanked all for availing themselves for such an important exercise and admonished them to take their health serious.

She further used the opportunity to elaborate and educate the masses on the need to be registered members of the NHIS as being members on the scheme guarantees them financial risk protection.

It is worthy to note that about *1,800* people benefited from the exercise which happens to be one of its kind for those communities.

It is instructive to note that before this exercise begun, over *1,400* people have already benefited from free eye screening and eye surgery for those who needed surgeries.

Indeed, the Kwesimintsim Constituency needs genuine leaders who have the people at heart to give a helping hand to the underprivileged constituents.

The constituency needs a competent person with a motherly heart to speak and care for their health needs.

She spoke at the Pharmaceutical Society of Ghana (PSGH) 87TH Annual General Meeting held in the Western Regional capital, Takoradi on Thursday, September 7, 2023.

The Pokuaa Balm of Gilead Foundation, in collaboration with the Pharmaceutical Society of Ghana, hosted a Free Health Screening Event at Apremedo market in the Kwesimintsim constituency. The health screening encompassed crucial tests including Malaria, Hepatitis B, H Pylori, and Blood Pressure (BP), along with free counseling on HIV prevention, among other services. Additionally, attendees had the added benefit of NHIS registration and renewals, all provided free of charge.

*The event was honored by esteemed dignitaries, including the President of the Pharmaceutical Society of Ghana (PSGH), Pharm. Dr. Kow Donkor, the Executive Secretary of PSGH, Rev. Dr. Dennis Awitty, the Deputy In-charge of Regional Medical Stores W/R, Pharm Dr. Issa Seidu, the Chairman of PSGH of W/R, Pharm Dr. Edward Kyere Amponsah, former chairpersons, fellows, and members of PSGH from W/R and across Ghana, all of whom contributed to the event's success.*

_This event saw participation from over 1000 residents of the Effia-Kwesimintsim municipality. Pharm Dr. Yaa Pokuaa Baiden, the founder of the Pokuaa Balm of Gilead Foundation and a former chairperson of PSGH of W/R, as well as Deputy CEO HR/Admin of NHIA, took the opportunity to enlighten the constituents on the importance of prioritizing their health and the benefits that come with having an NHIS card._
