BRIEFINGS ON A 2 DAY REVIEW MEETING RECENTLY HELD BY GHANET AT KOFORIDUA ON THE HIV SELF-TESTING PROJECT.
It's been exactly 2 years since RENEF Foundation was enrolled into the HIV self testing project , Global fund grant cycle 7 as a sub- recipient of GHANET covering the Dormaa Municipality and Wamfie. A 2 day review meeting which was represented by the RENEF Foundation team : Ms Deborah Leh Delali ( Programs manager) Mr Joshua Darko (Volunteer ) and Mr Bright Agyemang Sarpong ( Events lead) was such an insightful and impactful one .
Mr Patrick Anamoo introduced Implementing partners of the HIVST project and requested for various activities undertaken by NGOs during the phases where there was a short break in the project. There after, Implementation partners collaborated to review each IPs strength and weaknesses and conscious decision on how to better improve their Teams.Mr Yilob reminded us of the reason for the project which is to create a demand for the testing of HIV and not to necessarily find cases,improve community sensitization and also convince people for higher uptake during the sharing of test kits.
Ms Gladys gave excerpts of the national and sub-national HIV and AIDS estimates and projections of 2024 where we found out that 40.8 million people were living with HIV in 2024 with 1. 3 million being new infections globally. In Ghana 334, 721 persons were living with HIV in 2024. Bono region has the highest number of HIV recorded cases with about 6 persons in about 10 people having the virus.The 2 days review meeting ended with the consciousness of going back to improve our services in the various districts allocated to civil society organisations.
