Dormaa Ahenkro is one of the fastest developing municipalities in Ghana located in the Bono Region. It’s known for its production of poultry products.

It is known for its historical significance, rich cultural heritage, forests, and being a hub for cross-border trade due to its location near the border with Cote d'Ivoire.

Key aspects of Dormaa Ahenkro

Geography and administration:
Dormaa Ahenkro is the capital of the Dormaa Municipal District, located in the western part of the Bono Region.

History and culture:
The area has a rich history, and the Aduana Piesie Palace is located in the Bono Region, associated with the Dormaa people.

Economy:
The area has a predominantly agricultural economy, with many farmers and traders. Its strategic location makes it an important center for cross-border trade.

Education:
Dormaa is home to several educational institutions, including Dormaa Senior High School (DORMASS), the University of Energy and Natural Resources (Dormaa campus), and the Presbyterian Midwifery and Nursing Center.

Health:
The famous Presbyterian Hospital is located in Dormaa Ahenkro with over 1000 staff attending to all healthcare needs of the people including those from neighboring countries.

Population:
According to the 2010 census, the Dormaa Municipal area had a population of 112,111, with a majority residing in rural areas.
