We were honoured to host William Van Blyderveen, Head of Programmes at Bees for Development UK, during his recent visit to Donkorkrom, Ghana. 🐝🌍

During the visit, he met with key stakeholders, interacted with our vibrant Buzz Clubs, and met with hardworking beekeepers across various communities.

These interactions offered an opportunity to witness the impact of our initiatives, share experiences, and strengthen partnerships to advance sustainable beekeeping and livelihoods. πŸ’›πŸ―

Last week, our staff participated in a practical honey-processing training at the Honey and Beeswax Centre, gaining hands-on experience in proper honey handling, processing, hygiene, and quality assurance.🍯🐝

The session provided an opportunity to develop staff skills, promote best practices in the honey value chain, and reinforce our commitment to producing high-quality honey products.

Together, we continue learning, growing, and supporting sustainable beekeeping initiatives πŸ’›

As part of the BRF Endline Survey, we conducted engaging focus group discussions across selected communities πŸ—£πŸŒ

These conversations fostered a safe and inclusive space for community members to share their experiences, insights, and feedback on the project. From challenges faced to successes achieved, every voice mattered and contributed to a deeper understanding of our impact πŸ’¬βœ¨

The knowledge gathered will be instrumental in helping us assess progress, capture lessons learned, and shape future interventions that genuinely address community needs. We are grateful to all participants for their time, openness, and valuable contributions πŸ™πŸ½πŸ’›

Happy May Day!!!

As we bring the Beekeepers Restore Forest Project (BRF) to a close, we took an important step by training our enumerators to carry out the endline survey πŸ“ŠπŸ“

This training focused on building their skills in accurate data collection, ethical engagement, and effective communication with community members πŸ€πŸ“ The insights gathered will help us measure our impact, capture lessons learned, and inform future interventions πŸŒ±πŸ“ˆ

We are proud of our dedicated team for their commitment to excellence as they head into the field πŸš€πŸ‘

Between 13th and 15th April 2026, a team of fifteen (15) participants, comprising eleven (11) Bee Champions (BCs) and four (4) BfDG staff, camped at Bondaso for a three-day intensive training on honey harvesting.

The primary objective of the training was to strengthen the technical capacity of the Bee Champions by equipping them with practical honey-harvesting skills that they can cascade to beekeepers within their respective clusters.

To ensure a highly practical, hands-on learning experience, both BCs and staff are committed to staying in Bondaso for two nights. The training covered honey-harvesting techniques from both log hives and top-bar hives, with each participant given the opportunity to actively practice what they had learned.

Following the training, some of the Bee Champions with over 4 years of beekeeping and honey harvesting experience reported gaining new insights, particularly in proper protective attire and the effective use of the smoker. The BCs, new to beekeeping, also reported a boost in their confidence in honey harvesting.

Out of the eleven Bee Champions who participated, three were women, all of whom engaged fully and actively in the training activities. Thank you
