Egypt has launched its national trade information portal, offering one-stop access to up-to-date import, export and transit procedures through a single platform.

By centralizing regulatory information, the portal aims to reduce compliance costs and smooth trade at a time of global uncertainty.

The initiative is supported by UN Trade and Development (UNCTAD) through its Accelerate Trade Facilitation Programme, which helps countries deploy digital solutions to improve access to information, enhance coordination and boost trade efficiency.

The Secretariat received a delegation from the University of Cincinnati, Ohio State, United States of America. The six-member delegation was made up of senior faculty members from business and social science, with a keen interest on understanding African economic integration, and how they could contribute towards the continent’s economic transformation. The Session provided the Secretariat the opportunity to appraise the university on the state of play on the implementation of the AfCFTA Agreement, and the role academia could play towards boosting the prospects of this transformative pan-African initiative.

Discussions focused on strengthening ongoing collaboration and advancing key strategic priorities, with the university playing a key role through evidence-based trade policy research to inform objective AfCFTA trade reform initiatives for the benefit of state parties. Such knowledge generation is a key resource towards generating risk-mitigation policy interventions to sustain implementation of the Agreement. Both parties reaffirmed their shared commitment to deepen collaboration and forge viable win-win partnerships to enhance traction on the Africa’s economic integration agenda across the various tiers of programming, that is, national, regional and continental.

The hashtag Secretariat was pleased to participate in the launch of the UK–Africa Digital Trade Finance Corridor (NeoFingo) in Accra.
This initiative reflects a critical priority for the AfCFTA: unlocking access to trade finance for African SMEs and enabling them to participate more effectively in regional and global markets.

By leveraging digital innovation and regulatory collaboration, NeoFingo demonstrates how we can move from ambition to implementation—building the systems that make trade work at scale.

The hashtag Secretariat remains committed to supporting solutions that:
expand market access
strengthen financial inclusion
and accelerate Africa’s economic transformation

The World Trade Organization is currently looking for talent for its Young Trade Leaders programme, bringing together passionate individuals shaping the future of global trade.

The WTO Young Trade Leaders cohort invites young people aged 18 to 28 from around the world to share perspectives on the future of global trade and WTO reform ahead of the 14th Ministerial Conference (MC14) in Yaoundé, Cameroon.

The WTO Ministerial Conference is the organisation’s highest decision-making body, bringing together trade ministers from all WTO members every two years. MC14 is widely seen as an important “reform” Ministerial, focused on addressing long-standing institutional challenges such as dispute settlement, negotiating processes, and the WTO’s ability to respond to today’s economic and development realities. The direction set at MC14 could shape the relevance of the multilateral trading system in the coming years, particularly for younger generations.

𝐑𝐞𝐪𝐮𝐢𝐫𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬
● Anyone aged 18 to 28 may submit, regardless of background or prior experience with trade policy. We welcome perspectives from across regions and sectors, including industry, academia, civil society, government, and community-based contexts.
● Submission of a written input

𝐒𝐮𝐛𝐦𝐢𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧
● From your perspective, which issues should be prioritized on the MC14 agenda, and why?
● How do you think the outcomes of MC14 could shape the future for young people?
● What are your personal expectations for global trade, and what outcomes would you like to see at the WTO?

𝐃𝐞𝐭𝐚𝐢𝐥𝐬
𝐋𝐞𝐧𝐠𝐭𝐡 : Up to ~250 words
𝐋𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐮𝐚𝐠𝐞 : Input accepted in the three WTO working languages (English, French, Spanish) (if an English translation is available, you may submit it as well)
𝐄𝐥𝐢𝐠𝐢𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲 : Author(s) must be between 18 and 28 years of age
𝐅𝐨𝐫𝐦𝐚𝐭 : DOCX, PDF, or text entry via the comment box (please use DOCX or PDF if citing sources)

𝐃𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐞 : 16 February at 23:59 (Eastern Standard Time, UTC-5)
