The organisation seeks to conduct research into social problems like housing, sanitation, access to water, health and education; and establish how easy it is for marginalised groups in the country to access these social infrastructure.

Africa holds 30% of the world's mineral reserves.
60% of its cobalt supply.
70%+ of global platinum.

Yet the continent receives less than 3% of global manufacturing output from these same resources.

That gap between what the ground holds and what stays in the economy is the entire story of African underdevelopment.

It is also, if handled right, the entire story of Africa's coming transformation.

Africa is done being the world's quarry.

For decades, the continent has sent its gold, cobalt, lithium, and copper abroad — raw, unrefined, undervalued and bought them back as finished products at 10× the price.

That era is ending.

A new generation of African governments is drawing a line: no more raw exports without a fair share of the value chain.

This is not anti-investment. This is economic sovereignty in action.

The minerals are Africa's. The question is whether the value will be too.

CeSIS joined other stakeholders on Wednesday, 8th April 2025, at the Report Launch by the Public Interest and Accountability Committee (PIAC), where critical issues in petroleum revenue management were brought to the fore.

The discussions highlighted persistent gaps in transparency, revenue utilization, and accountability, and pointed to the need for stronger oversight to ensure that Ghana’s petroleum resources deliver real benefits for citizens.

Engagements of this nature remain important for deepening informed dialogue and advancing public accountability in the extractive sector.
