As our 20-year journey continues to unfold, one thing is clear: the work is far from over, and neither is our resolve. Preparations are far advanced for this year’s Indoor Residual Spraying (IRS) campaign, and the momentum on the ground is strong.
Over the past weeks, our Middle-Level Officers have completed intensive 3-day onboarding sessions, equipping them with the tools, knowledge, and coordination needed to deliver effectively in the field. In Obuasi Municipal and Obuasi East Municipal, sessions held from 24th to 26th March brought together key leadership, including the Municipal Health Directors and Malaria Focal Persons from both municipalities. Their active participation reflects the strength of local ownership driving this intervention.
Further north, in Wa, the Upper West Regional capital, the scale of engagement was just as encouraging. Middle-Level Officers from all 11 districts in the Upper West Region, alongside 3 districts from the Upper East Region, converged for a joint onboarding session from 8th to 10th April. The Regional Director of Health Services was represented through the Regional Malaria Focal Person, who highlighted the tangible impact of AGAMal’s IRS efforts.
One statistic stood out. Malaria deaths in the region dropped from 8 in 2024 to just 1 in 2025. This is what sustained, coordinated intervention looks like.
The session also benefited from the presence of the Oversight Officer of the Country Coordinating Mechanism (CCM) and a representative from the National Malaria Elimination Programme - Ghana (NMEP), reinforcing the strong collaboration behind these efforts.
As we step into another spray season, we do so with evidence, partnerships, and a shared commitment to push even further.
A malaria-free future is not just an ambition. It is within reach.
