*TOPIC: THE GOD WHO CARES*

*MEMORY VERSE:* _Jonah 1:17 'Now the Lord had prepared a large sea creature to swallow Jonah, and Jonah was inside the sea creature for three days and three nights.'_

This excerpt from the story of Jonah the prophet illustrates God's active involvement in the lives of individuals, even in seemingly trivial or personal matters. God cares deeply about your situation. If you could truly comprehend even a fraction of His love for you, you wouldn't entertain thoughts of giving up on yourself, feeling despair, or considering su***de.

Consider how invested God was in fulfilling His purpose for Jonah and the city of Nineveh. When Jonah refused to go where the Lord directed, God sent a wind that caused a great storm to compel Jonah off the ship. He prepared a creature to swallow Jonah in the sea, saving his life. God then instructed the creature to vomit Jonah out onto dry land. He made a vine grow to provide shade for Jonah, only to send a worm to destroy the vine as a lesson for Jonah (Jonah 4:6-10). It seems as if God had nothing else to do but to be involved directly in these minute details of one man's life.

The remarkable truth is that God is just as aware of our lives today as He was then. While the focus here is on Jonah, God is the same today—He does not forget His children. Recognize that God is interested in your life, even in the mundane aspects. Acknowledge Him always, and He will direct your paths.

*PRAYER*: Lord, I know that You care for me. Help me to always live in this awareness, in Jesus Christ's name. Amen.

*INSIGHT*: "Can a woman's tender care cease towards the child she bears? Yes!... Yet I will remember you." Isaiah 49:15.

*TOPIC: BENEFITS OF REDEMPTION*

*MEMORY VERSE*
Psalm 103:2-5
_Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all His benefits: Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases; Who redeemeth thy life from destruction; who crowneth thee with lovingkindness and tender mercies; Who satisfieth thy mouth with good things; so that thy youth is renewed like the eagle's_

It's amazing how David could write these words years before Christ. He was factually listing the benefits of the finished work of Christ, namely that God forgives all iniquities.

From our study verses today, we see that in God's redemptive plan, there are benefits that can and should be enjoyed by the believer. These benefits accompany the finished works of Christ. Redemption does not end with the forgiveness of sins. Our healing from diseases and our salvation from destruction, amongst others, are things we cannot take lightly.

As we continue in our redemptive works in Christ, acknowledge all that God has endowed you with. Believe it, talk about it and see them manifest in your life. Give no place to negativity.

*PRAYER:* Thank You, Father, for Your word today. My wellness and well-being are assured in You!

*INSIGHT:* Redemption came as a package. Enjoy it all.

*TOPIC: A HEART FOR GOD*

*MEMORY VERSE:*
2 Timothy 4:2 [KJV]
_"Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine."_

In this text, the apostle Paul admonishes Timothy to be ever ready to preach the word. In recent times, this task calls for a stir-up in the Spirit to kick-start your courage.

I remember about a month ago, my fellow course mates who find themselves in a different faith, stated and elaborated on a theory that Christianity is just beating about the bush: with no essence, importance or spirituality. I came to realize that they did just what verse 3 of our text says; then, they adjusted the truth to suit themselves. At that instant, I knew they had to be enlightened, and I knew I had to stand up for God because there was total silence in the class. So I did just that.

Brethren, since we go about our daily lives as Christians, we must let the world know who we stand for and what we stand for. Because the world now finds it hard to distinguish between Christians and the heathen. Stand up for God when no one is willing to.

*PRAYER:* Pray for the Spirit of God to grant you a wild spirit
blazing for God.

*INSIGHT:* The wilder your spirit, the easier it is to stand out as a conqueror in the wild world.

*TOPIC: THE POWERFUL CHILD OF GOD*

*MEMORY VERSE*
John 1:12
_But as many as received Him, to them He gave power to become children of God, even to them that believe on His name._

God does not leave people helpless to figure out the walk expected of the Christian on their own. He gives power (authority, the right) to become children of God.

Because of this authority, the Christian's status as God's child is recognised in the spiritual realm. You are qualified to speak things into being which were not, to create good and destroy evil.

The power God gives is in the knowledge God gives us through His Word. Knowledge of Him and of ourselves empowers us to live for Him. Knowing that I am more than a conqueror through Christ, for instance, helps me rule my desires and impulses.

The Holy Spirit is also given to Christians, and He reminds us of what we have heard from God. He teaches us and, because He lives within us, enables us to listen to and obey God's voice.

*PRAYER:* Lord, I will live to the fullest of my potential. I am a victor in every area of life. I am above and not beneath, and I have all it takes to be Your child.

*INSIGHT:* Beware of who you are, and the power God Himself has given you to be who He has made you- His child. Do not let anything throw you off course.

*TOPIC: GROW IN THE SPIRIT*

*MEMORY VERSE:*
1 Peter 2:2
_As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby_

Meditating on this verse, I got confused about why a Christian is being likened to a baby. I believe that after someone receives Christ, by declaring with heart and mouth, the fullness of the Holy Spirit comes to live in him. For he is given the Spirit of God without measure. (John 3:34)

I realized that this verse is just an example of how Christians should desire the Word of God. There is no young Holy Spirit, nor is there an old Holy Spirit or a half-Holy Spirit. God offers His whole self to the Christian, in power and might. He gives His total enablement, no matter his/her age or social status.

So then, if we carry the fullness of the Almighty God in us, why do we need to grow again? The issue is that most Christians are not aware of the kind of power they carry, and as a result, they live their lives as ordinary men. Until you begin to think as Jesus thinks, walk and talk as He does, you have not grown.

Christian growth is in both your mind and your actions. You cannot carry the fullness of God without operating in His power. You here must desire His Word always and live in its power.

*PRAYER:* I refuse to live as an ordinary man because I carry Power in me.

*INSIGHT:* You can cause things to happen because the whole Creator lives in You.

*TOPIC: SIN SHALL NOT REIGN IN MY MORTAL BODY*

*MEMORY VERSE:* _Romans 6:11-12 Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord. Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof._

Reckon means to account, compute or calculate. If the word says you are indeed dead to sin, you are. It is simple, account for it to be so. Let's say someone owes you, and the person later settles his debt. Can you still say he still owes you? Certainly not. Everything we owed has been paid in full by the blood of Christ (Hebrews 9:26, Romans 6:10).

Our Lord Jesus dealt with sin once and for all. So why will a Christian still struggle with sin? First of all, it is not even the nature of a Christian to sin. You have the nature of righteousness. I've not seen a banana plant bearing pawpaw as a fruit. The reason why a Christian will sin is because of ignorance as a babe in Christ, fear, selfishness, and faithlessness.

I'll prove it to you. Romans 1:17 says, "... The righteous shall live by faith". Romans 14:23 says, ".... for whatsoever is not of faith is sin". If indeed you are living by faith, you'll not sin. Selfishness in a sense of satisfying your passions and lust thereof (James 1:14). Anyone who walks in love has no place for fear (1 John 4:18). A babe in Christ will not know what is wrong or right sometimes.

It is like a baby putting anything he finds on the floor in his mouth. It is therefore expedient as a newborn to desire the sincere milk of the Word (1 Peter 2:2). Program yourself with the Word of God, and eventually you'll do it. If you add codes that are not part of God's plan, it'll cause the outcome to function improperly. Take note of what you watch and hear: it programs you.

*PRAYER:* Father, with this consciousness I live, I'm dead to sin and alive unto you. Sin shall not reign in my mortal body, and through my spirit, I mortify the deeds of the flesh. I receive life into my mortal body against (mention the sin). I thank you for an answered prayer in Jesus' name. Amen

*INSIGHT:* 1 John
3:9 No one who has been born from God practices sin because God's seed abides in him. Indeed, he cannot go on sinning, because he has been born from God.
