We tap into local resources to provide sustainable economic skills for our beneficiaries. An organization with the aim of providing relief to people in rural communities particularly women and children and also enhancing total development of rural communities through the provision of basic development facilities and services.

Our SEED Training Series – Accra Edition
Building livelihoods through practical training

On 20th September 2025, CIRCDev Ghana successfully organized another session of the SEED (Skills for Employment and Entrepreneurship Development) Training Series in Madina, Accra.

Participants were taken through practical, hands-on training in:
✅ Soap making
✅ Cosmetics and household product formulation
✅ Entrepreneurial and business skills

The energy, enthusiasm, and commitment of participants reaffirm our mission to empower communities with practical skills for sustainable livelihoods.

We extend our gratitude to everyone who joined us and made this training impactful.

Our Story

BACKGROUND

It all started in 2014 when a group of national service personnel from the Atwima Nwabiagya District Assembly realized the need to support the development of rural communities. The women, youth and children n rural communities are the most affected group of people as far poverty is concerned. The District Assembly’s planning process revealed this ordeal to these national service personnel who then decided to contribute meaningfully to help the development of women, youth and children in rural communities. Initially, the idea was to donate clothes, footwear, food items and educational materials to the deprived children in the rural communities. Upon further discussions and consultation with relevant stakeholders and expert, the group realized their initial approach to the solving the problem identified will not be sustainable and therefore must improve the lives of the caregivers of these deprived children which will then translate into their lives. Center for Integrated Rural and Child Development (CIRCDev) has been in operation for the past 5 years and our activities and program have been sustainable.

ACHIEVEMENT

Since our establishment, over 1,200 women and girls, 350 teenage mothers, 157 men, and 2000 children have benefited from our programs. We have worked in 16 district assemblies from 5 regions in Ghana. Without major funding, our strategy to financing our activities has proven to be very effective. We have received partnership and support from the POLLINATION PROJECT, a nonprofit funding organization in California in the United State of America.

In 2019, we received our first volunteers from Australia and Thailand to support our women empowerment and child development program. These volunteers were in the person of Ms. Katherine Gabrielle Hankcock from Australia and Ms. Grete Wagen from Thailand. We are so much thankful to them for the support.

CIRCDev holds a SPECIAL CONSULTATIVE STATUS with the United Nation’s ECOSOC branch. A milestone that we are very proud of. CIRCDev belongs to network of NGOs including the WORLD ASSOCIATION OF NGOS (WANGO). A member of the WASCI NGO group and In Ghana, CIRCDev is a member of the CSOs on SDGs and the VOICES OF YOUTH COALITION.

OUR PROGRAMS

CIRCDev runs women and girls empowerment program, youth empowerment program, child development program which includes mentorship and support program. This programs are the pillars for our cause of aiding the alleviation for rural poverty and providing for the total well-being of women, youth and the children

Our women, girls and youth empowerment program concentrates on entrepreneurship and apprenticeship. Under this program rural women and girls as well as the youth receive training in income generating skills and also are paired with mastercraft person to train this young women and girls.

In addition, there is a general rural development program which seeks to help rural communities get the needed social amenities like classroom, sanitation facility and water facility. CIRCDev collaborates with relevant government agencies like the health directorate, education department, agriculture department, social welfare and community development department, the non-formal education to provide program to the people in rural communities. We plan our activities with our beneficiaries through their leaders like the traditional authorities, assembly member and the unit committee to ensure the sustainability of our activities. So we discuss their problem with them and find solution to the problem with them. CIRCDev seeks to be the best local organization in Ghana that provide employment opportunities to the unemployed women and youth in Ghana.

CHALLENGE

Our main challenge has been financing and staffing. Even though we have devised a strategy of financing that has been working for us for the past 5 years but it is not enough to help us employ more hands.

It is also difficult getting volunteers due to the bad name some non-governmental organization in Africa has given to the nonprofit sector. However, we are urging everyone who wish to work with to come because we have the system to make them part of the organization and protect them.
