(OSP)
Islam entreats all true Muslims to be kind and have affection for the Orphan. Indeed, the Ghana Muslim Academy has been supportive to orphans since its inception. In 2008, the Executive Council decided that the GMA support for orphans must be made a formal project. The Project began with the daughter of the late watchman of the office of the Academy at Nima, Aisha. Currently, the academy supports about 20 orphans. Under the Orphans Support Project (OSP), the GMA pays the school fees, subsistence money and buy other teaching and learning materials for the beneficiaries. OBJECTIVES
The project is designed to achieve the following set of objectives:
1. To support the education of identified Orphans.
2. To assist in the daily subsistence of identified Orphans.
3. To help in the religious and moral upbringing of identified Orphans. NATURE & SCOPE OF PROJECT
The OSP identifies a number of orphans based on the financial capacity of the project and assist them through their Home Guardians. What this means is that by this project, the Ghana Muslim Academy shall support orphans under the project from their family homes. The project shall encourage, support and monitor Home Guardians of orphans in order to ensure that they grow in a religious and safe environment. THE ANNUAL RELIEF SERVICES 2012
For the past 4 years, the Academy has been involved in the supervision of the distribution of relief items to orphans and the deprived in Ghana. This has been an annual project mainly supported by the IHH of Turkey and WEFA of Germany. This activity occurs in the Holy Month of Ramadan and during Eidul Adha. During the month of Ramadan, the IHH and WEFA through the Ghana Muslim Academy distribute a comprehensive food packages to selected orphans and deprived ones from our communities. During the Eidul-Adha celebrations, cows are slaughtered for some deprived communities across the 10 regions of Ghana under our Qurbaan project sponsored by the IHH of Turkey and WEFA of Germany. Under the Qurbaan relief services, deprived families and communities are
provided with cows to be used to celebrate the Eidul Adha. By this, they able to take part in the religious rite of slaughtering during the occasion and also get meat for the feast
OBJECTIVES
The main objectives for the Annual Relief Services are as follows:
• To remember the deprived and the under-privileged during the festivities and put smiles on their faces.
• To encourage the act of charity to the under-privileged among Muslims in Ghana. BENEFICIARIES
The food items are given to orphans and the very deprived. The beneficiaries are identified from deprived homes through our Imams and Muslim Chiefs. The orphans should not be recipients of regular care from any orphanage. We call them 'the Forgotten Orphans'. Such orphans are registered with the Academy before the food distribution day. MUJAHID ANNUAL RAMADAN LECTURES
The M.A. Mujahid Annual Ramadan Lectures began as Annual Ramadan Tafsir in English first ever in the history of Muslims in Ghana in 1998.This was necessitated by the growing need for the interpretation and exegesis of the Glorious Qur’an to be done in the lingua franca of the country, English Language. Hither to, Tafsir was done in only Hausa cutting off many Muslims in Ghana who do not speak and understand Hausa. The unique nature of our Tafsir at the time was that firstly, it was topic base. What this means is that a topic was chosen by a Scholar and Qur’anic injunctions were used to explain and expatiate it. Secondly, the audience after listening to the speaker was allowed to debate the speaker on his stand on the topic as well as allowing for other scholars to also contribute to the discussion. This really generated a lot of interest in the annual Tafsir. In 2002, the Academy decided to make the annual Tafsir a full blown annual public lectures once a week throughout Ramadan

IMPACT
The M.A. Mujahid Annual Ramadan Lectures has made significant impact particularly in our Muslim communities. It has been a constant advocacy forum for issues which needed attention in our communities. Issues ranging from leadership, education, youth welfare, moral re-armament, corruption, wealth creation etc have been raised at the lectures over the years and follow ups have been made for the benefit of our society. SISTERS’ FORUM 2012
The Sisters’ Forum is a gender enhancement annual programme initiated by the Ghana Muslim Academy since 1994. The core essence of the programme is to create a platform for young Muslim women in the country to brainstorm on pertinent issues affecting the holistic development of the Muslim woman. The forum is also used to mentor Muslim girls to aspire higher in all national endeavors. Since 1994 when the program was initiated, it has instilled confidence in a lot of Muslim girls as well as encouraging them to aspire higher in life. The program has also highlighted the panacea to some of the challenges facing the Muslim woman. DA’WAH AND EDUCATIONAL COUNSELLING SUMMIT, 2012

The main objective of the program is to sensitize brothers and sisters in the Senior High Schools (SHS) about the crucial role of education and Da’wah in the development of the intellectual and spiritual development of the Muslim youth. This summit encourages participants to overcome social forces such poverty, immorality, bad peer influence among others which seem to hamper their progress in education. The program is also use to solicit the concerns of the students in their educational and spiritual pursuits. IMPACT

THE PRISONS REFORMATION MINISTRY

In 2003, the Ghana Muslim Academy visited the James Fort Prisons in Accra to present items to the inmates as part of its annual charity activities. The Academy was astonished to know that about two-third of the inmates numbering over 700 at the time were Muslims. Very much touched with the situation, the Academy decided to help in the reformation efforts by the Government. It therefore unveiled the Prisons Reformation Project in 2003 at the James Fort Prisons in Accra. CORE OBJECTIVES
The Ghana Muslim Academy is pursuing the Prisons Reformation Project (PRP) with the following core objectives:
1. To instill moral uprightness among inmates.
2. To encourage the inmates to reintegrate into society after the reformation period.
3. To enhance the religiosity of the Muslim inmates
4. To help the inmates with basic needs such as food and clothing
5. To teach the Muslim inmates about Islam. The Academy shall continue to embark on the following activities at the prisons:
Interaction with the Muslim inmates through weekly seminars on Fridays. Assigning the Muslim Inmates with an Imam for the weekly Friday Jumuah Prayers. Supplying the inmates including the non-Muslims with clothes and food,
Praying and celebrating Eidul-Fitr and Eidul-Adha with the inmates. Helping to reintegrate them into society after serving their jail terms or being found innocent. This will be done in close collaboration with the Prison Officers.

United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres had condemned what he called ''institutional discrimination'' against Muslims globally.

''Muslims worldwide often face institutional discrimination, socio-economic exclusion, biased immigration policies and unwarranted surveillance and profiling,'' the UN chief said in his message marking the International Day to Combat Islamophobia on 15 March.

He urged the world to ''re-commit to the equality, human rights and dignity of every person, no matter their faith.''

Guterres said the ''worrying trends are fuelled by anti-Muslim rhetoric and outright hate, which can lead to harassment and violence.''
