Hope for the Needy is a Non-governmental organization located at Dichemso in the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly in the Ashanti Region of Ghana West Africa. The foundation is dedicated to the total welfare, healthy growth and development of the vulnerable in both rural and urban areas. During a baseline survey, the organization identified a lot of problems confronting the vulnerable, especially those
in the rural areas of which majority of them are person with disability, children, youth, women and the aged who are neglected and have no one to take care of them. According to the baseline survey in some rural areas in Ghana, most children with disability in the rural areas are kept indoors, and their parents can’t afford to send or pay for their schooling, some of them need surgical operations, wheelchairs, bed and clothing to make live quiet better for them. Some of parents with or without disability, who neglect their children, are because of lack of financial support to start petty trading or business to cater for the family.A developing country, like Ghana faces problem of child labour. We noticed during our survey that most youth, after completion of their basic education, cannot continue to higher educational and skill development level. Notwithstanding these, HFTN therefore desires and determined to establish and operate a voluntary and non-governmental network to initiate project and programmes relating to the burning concerns of total welfare, health provision and development of the vulnerable especially persons with disability, children, women, Youth and the Aged in both Rural and urban areas. Children’s rights including; basic health and welfare, education, financial, family leisure and cultural activities environment and alternative care, civil right and freedom, special programs and projects for women, children etc. with the view of improving the general welfare, healthy growth and development of the Disabled Children, Women, Youth, Elderly, Men in both Rural and Urban Areas. IN THE SPIRIT OF CHILD OPTIMAL GROWTH, friendship, co-operation, and the general development of children, the poorest of her poor, particular in Ghana and care for the welfare of the youth, elderly, women and disabled children in Ghana and elsewhere, we solemnly declare and affirm to our commitment in helping general poorest of poor to live decently in Ghana and the world as whole.
