A Glimpse into Alan Kyerematen's Vision for Ghana - Yussif Abdul Ganiyu Inshola

As I reflect on my recent encounter with Alan John Kwadwo Kyerematen, presidential candidate for the Movement for Change, at Zuria FM, I am struck by the depth of his vision for Ghana's future. Our pre-interview conference afforded me a unique opportunity to grasp his aspirations for the nation, and I must say, they are nothing short of inspiring .

A Leader with a Track Record

Kyerematen's impressive background speaks volumes about his capacity to lead. As a seasoned diplomat, corporate executive, and international public servant, he has honed his expertise in global trade issues. His tenure as Ambassador to the United States and Minister of Trade, Industry, Private Sector Development, and Presidential Special Initiatives under President Kufuor's administration demonstrates his ability to navigate complex policy landscapes .

A Vision for Economic Growth

During our conference, Kyerematen shared his commitment to fostering economic growth through innovative initiatives. His proposals for rural industrialization, trade policy reform, and support for small and medium enterprises resonate deeply with Ghana's development needs. The District Industrialization Programme, which aims to establish at least one medium-sized factory in each administrative district, is a testament to his dedication to inclusive growth .

A Personal Touch

What struck me most, however, was Kyerematen's genuine appreciation for talent. He acknowledged my intelligence and expressed his intention to offer me an appointment in his government, should he win the December 7 election. While I have yet to consider his offer or join his movement, this personal touch speaks to his leadership style – one that values human capital and nurtures potential.

The Road Ahead

As Ghanaians prepare to head to the polls, Kyerematen's vision for the nation warrants serious consideration. His blend of diplomatic acumen, corporate expertise, and commitment to economic growth makes him a compelling candidate. Whether or not one supports his movement, it is clear that Alan Kyerematen is a leader who embodies the spirit of progress and development.

Will Kyerematen's vision for Ghana resonate with the electorate? Only time will tell. One thing is certain, however – his dedication to the nation's growth and prosperity is undeniable.

Standing Up Against Injustice: When the System Sees You as a Threat

Introduction

When injustice reigns supreme in a community, it's natural to feel the urge to speak out and demand change. However, when those in power perceive your efforts as a challenge to their authority, they may label you as a troublemaker or even a threat. This can lead to a complex and delicate situation, where your desire for justice is pitted against the system's desire for control. In this article, I 'll explore the dynamics at play and offer guidance on how we are navigating this challenging terrain.

My Desire for Justice

When we witness injustice, our conscience compels us to act. We may start by raising awareness, mobilizing support, and advocating for policy changes. Our goal is to create a fairer, more equitable society where everyone has access to the same opportunities. This desire for justice is rooted in our shared humanity and our recognition of the inherent worth and dignity of every individual.

The Backlash

However, those who benefit from the status quo may see our efforts as a threat to their power and privilege. They may try to silence us, discredit us, or even punish us for daring to challenge their authority. This backlash can take many forms, including:

- Character assassination: They may try to damage our reputation or question our motives.
- Gaslighting: They may deny the existence of the problem or tell us we're overreacting.
- Intimidation: They may use their power to make us feel afraid or vulnerable.
- Co-optation: They may try to absorb our message and neutralize our impact.

Navigating the Power Dynamics

So, how do we continue to fight for justice without being seen as a threat? Strategies :

1. Building alliances : Collaborate with like-minded individuals and organizations to amplify your message and demonstrate a united front.
2. Educate and raise awareness: Help others understand the issues and the need for change, addressing misconceptions and fears.
3. Engage in respectful dialogue: Open communication channels with those in power, seeking common ground and constructive solutions.
4. Persist peacefully: Continue advocating for justice, using non-violent methods that promote positive change.
5. Document everything: Keep a record of events, actions, and responses to protect yourself and your movement.
6. Take care of yourself: Recognize the emotional toll of this work and prioritize self-care.

Conclusion

Standing up against injustice requires courage, resilience, and strategic thinking. When those in power push back, remember that your quest for justice is not a declaration of war. By building alliances, educating others, engaging in respectful dialogue, persisting peacefully, documenting everything, and taking care of yourself, you can create meaningful change and build a more just society.

Additionally, we are considering the following:

- Celebrate small wins: Acknowledge and celebrate the progress you make, no matter how small.
- Stay adaptable: Be willing to adjust your strategy as circumstances change.
- Seek support: Surround yourself with people who understand and support your work.
- Stay true to your values: Remember why you started this journey and stay committed to your principles.

I understand , creating a more just society is a marathon, not a sprint. By staying focused, persistent, and strategic, you can overcome the obstacles and achieve meaningful change.

10 Lessons from the book “The Courage to be Disliked” by Ichiro Kishimi and Fumitake Koga:

1. Never compare yourself to others:
Life isn’t a competition, and if you see it as such, you’ll take other people’s successes as your defeat, and vice versa. Try not to spend so much time on social media.

2. Freedom is being okay if people dislike you:
Humans wired to thrive in communities so the fear of disapproval makes people freeze inside. Being okay with people not liking us is freedom.

3. All problems are Interpersonal Relationship Problems:
People are afraid of being judged by others. If there were nobody else in the world, our problems as we know them wouldn’t exist. All our problems have the touch of other people in some way or the other.

4. Don’t live to satisfy others:
Get rid of the need to please others. Stay true to yourself. Live your life in complete freedom and according to your own principles. Always remember that what other people think of you is none of your business.

5. Stop using trauma as an excuse:
Discard the victim mentality. Our past experiences – including traumas – affect us not by the events themselves, but by the meanings, we attach to them.

6. Embrace individuality:
Accept and celebrate your unique self. Overcome the burden of social expectations. Lifestyle is not something given, but something chosen. Be authentically You.

7. You’re not actually inferior:
Don’t use your inferiority complex to give up on things, rationalize self-pity, and resolve to be helpless. Don’t use it as an excuse not to do things; “I don’t have a degree, so I can’t succeed.”

8. Focus on your own tasks:
When people don’t like us, that is their problem. Before helping others, you have to help yourself, otherwise, you will end up resenting the very people you’re trying to help.

9. Put yourself on the same level as others:
Never put yourself above or below anyone. Instead of building hierarchical relationships, build horizontal ones that put you both on the same level as each other. If someone hasn’t done an adequate enough job, let them know your expectations without passing judgment.

10. You can change your life, if you want to:
If you believe that the past determined your present and therefore your future, then you’ve already decided on your future. Changing your lifestyle and reaching for your dreams opens you up to failure, rejection, and criticism.
