On Friday, 9th January, our team held a stakeholder engagement meeting with the CEO of SAR Consult and Proprietor of SAR Educational Complex (Mr. Abubakar Siddiq )as part of the Community Empowerment Through Literacy Project (Phase 2) under the Volunteering for Change initiative.
The engagement provided an opportunity to share outcomes from Phase 1 and present the vision for Phase 2, which is being implemented in partnership with Star Ghana Foundation and FOMWAG
A key takeaway from the discussion was the recognition that low academic performance—particularly challenges with reading—cannot be attributed to one group alone. Parents, teachers, school leadership, education authorities, government, and students all play critical roles. Addressing literacy challenges therefore requires a holistic, multi-stakeholder approach—from the grassroots to policy level.
The stakeholder further emphasized the need to:
✔️ Engage parents, teachers, and education authorities separately to identify gaps and strengths
✔️ Address literacy challenges in Islamic schools within the Asokore MANPONG Municipal Assembly
✔️ Instill a strong reading culture among young learners as a foundation for academic growth
We are grateful for the insightful recommendations shared, which will guide the effective implementation of Phase 2 as we work collectively to empower young people through literacy.
📌 Together, we can build a strong foundation for learning and lifelong success.
