School Complex in Wapuli to carry out a powerful and engaging awareness campaign on human trafficking. The school, which includes Kindergarten, Primary, and Junior High School, has a vibrant population of 670 students.
With the warm support of the headmaster and staff, the team spent the day educating students on the dangers of human traffickingโhow traffickers operate, the warning signs, and how to stay safe. To make the message more memorable, the team prepared creative placards and designed campaignโbranded outfits for the outreach assistants who helped lead the activities.
The response from the students was inspiring. They connected deeply with the discussions and proudly embraced the campaign slogan:
The children were encouraged to take this slogan home and boldly share it with their families and communities.
During the session, the head teacher expressed sincere appreciation for the initiative. He also shared a sobering real-life story that had occurred at the school months earlier: two students were deceived with a fake job offer in Techiman. Believing the promise, they left school and travelled there, only to discover a completely different and troubling reality.
Thankfully, they managed to reach their parents and were eventually rescued and brought home safely.
This incident highlighted just how critical this awareness campaign is. The head teacher strongly suggested forming an Anti-Human Trafficking Club in the school to help sustain awareness and empower students long-term.
To ensure that every student fully understood the message, the team presented in both English and the local language. This inclusive approach allowed learners of all ages and backgrounds to follow along, ask questions, and participate meaningfully.
Looking ahead, the Yendi Network of ConPAHTโTaliha K*m Ghana, under the guidance of Rev. Fr. Emmanuel Chigaekwu, is already preparing the next phase of this missionโtaking the awareness campaign to the Senior High School in the area. The goal is simple but vital: to ensure that even more young people are informed, alert, and protected from human trafficking.
