IMPACT STORY | BODWESANGO SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL 💪🏾❤️

At Bodwesango Senior High School, ProActif Global engaged both students and teachers in an interactive HIV/AIDS sensitization session focused on practical, life-saving knowledge.

From understanding HIV transmission and prevention to learning about correct and consistent condom use and the importance of knowing your HIV status through regular testing, the sessions created a safe space for questions, honest conversations, and informed choices.

For us, impact is not just about the number of people reached—it is about giving young people and the adults who guide them the knowledge and confidence to make healthier decisions.

Our Executive Director was proud to join AfriYan Ghana youth leaders at the Skyplus Hotel in Ho for the 2 days AGP Policy Influencing Training!

Under the theme “Strengthening Youth Participation and Engagement with District Assemblies and Local Stakeholders,” this deep-dive sessions gave youth leaders the blueprint to navigate local governance, influence policy, and drive real community transformation.

Youth voices belong at every decision-making table—from community planning to budget allocation. We are thrilled to champion young leaders in Ashanti Region as they hold institutions accountable and influence policy for youth-driven development across Ghana!

At Mpasatea Senior High School in the Atwima Nwabiagya District, ProActif Global, as part of AfriYan Ghana’s “Safe to Thrive” Campaign, created a safe and engaging space for young people to learn, ask questions and have honest conversations about issues that directly affect their lives.

The outreach focused on Sexual Harassment, Consent, HIV Prevention and HIV Treatment—equipping students with practical knowledge to recognise inappropriate behaviour, understand their rights and boundaries, make informed decisions, and protect themselves from HIV and other risks.

Through interactive discussions, real-life scenarios and youth-friendly approaches, participants explored frameworks for identifying sexual harassment and understanding consent. We also challenged myths and misconceptions around HIV, discussed prevention options, treatment and the importance of reducing stigma and discrimination.

Because creating safer communities begins with giving young people the knowledge, confidence and voice to protect themselves and others.

Moments like these remind us why comprehensive sexuality education remains critical.

AfriYan Ghana supported by ProActif embarked on a campaign in five districts in the Ashanti including Adansi Asokwa.

During our engagement with adolescent girls and young women in Adansi Asokwa, conversations on consent, sexual harassment and HIV prevention turned into moments of discovery, confidence and empowerment.

When young women are equipped with the right information, they become better prepared to protect their health, assert their boundaries and pursue their dreams.

We were honored to facilitate a one-day Entrepreneurial and Skills Training Program for Women’s Ministry members and young women from the various SDA Churches within the Patasi District. The training focused on nurturing entrepreneurial thinking, building confidence, and providing hands-on skills that can support income generation and economic independence.

Seeing the enthusiasm, creativity, and determination of participants was truly inspiring. When women are empowered with knowledge and practical skills, they become catalysts for change within their families, churches, and communities.

We commend the Patasi District SDA Women’s Ministry for this impactful initiative and remain committed to supporting efforts that promote sustainable livelihoods and the empowerment of young women.

On 26th May 2026, young people in Konongo gathered for the RaVASH Peer Educator Training. The programme was facilitated by our team in partnership with Erudite Women’s Empowerment Foundation (EWEF), which led the implementation of the initiative. Participants learned how to prevent sexual harassment, promote consent, support survivors, and help create safer schools. They were also introduced to the S.P.OIL and FRIES frameworks to better understand unhealthy behaviours, power dynamics, and consent.

We are inspired by the commitment shown by these young leaders as they work to promote respect and safety in their schools and communities. Thank you to Erudite Women's Empowerment Foundation (EWEF) for organising this initiative and to the AU-EU Youth Voices Lab for their support. Together, we can create schools where every student feels safe, respected, and empowered to thrive.

Today, on the International Day of Women and Girls in Science, we celebrate the brilliant women who have paved the way in labs, universities, and field sites across the globe. Their remarkable contributions have shaped our understanding of the world and driven progress for all of humanity.

Yet, we also recognize that significant barriers remain. Science and gender equality must advance hand-in-hand to tackle our world's greatest challenges, from climate change to global health. This day is a powerful reminder to champion inclusivity, to encourage every young girl with a question, and to build a future where the scientific community reflects the diversity of the world it seeks to improve.
