🚨📣 Update: Our Bicycle Ads Campaign Against Low-Ranking Hotels on the Hotels Benchmark Ranking

On Monday, September 28, and Tuesday, September 29, 2026, our bicycle ads were stationed directly outside low-ranking hotels during Accra's busiest rush hours, carrying a public message straight to their doorstep.

The campaign called out "heartless hotels": these hotels have not made a public cage-free commitment. While Ghana's hospitality industry is moving towards more responsible sourcing, these hotels have remained unresponsive despite repeated outreach to improve animal welfare within their supply chain.

Our message to these hotels is simple. It is time to go cage-free, sourcing eggs exclusively from farms that do not confine hens in battery cages. Guests care about where their food comes from, and hospitality with heart means giving them that assurance.

Positioned right outside these hotels during peak traffic hours, the ads ensured the message reached guests, staff, and passersby. The campaign is a public push for accountability and transparency within their egg sourcing, and to align with guests' preferences for ethically sourced eggs.

CALL FOR VOLUNTARY EVALUATORS

We are looking for people willing to read a piece of commissioned work and tell us honestly how good it is.

In 2026 and 2027, we are commissioning independent research on three questions: the economics of cage-free egg production in South Africa, the status of cage systems in broiler production across Africa, and what it would actually cost to build aviary laying-hen housing in Nigeria, Egypt and South Africa.

⏱ 2–7 hours per assignment, one to three assignments a year
📍 Remote, global

We'd like to hear from you if you have working knowledge of any of the following:
• Agricultural, livestock or applied economics
• Poultry production science, including layer and broiler systems
• Commercial poultry in an African market, from any vantage point: production, processing, retail or supply
• Standards development, regulation or public policy processes
• Statistics, econometrics or quantitative methods
• Trade, customs and supply chain analysis
• Agricultural engineering, construction costing or quantity surveying

You do not need prior involvement in animal welfare.

We particularly encourage evaluators based in Africa, and evaluators who have worked in the markets the research covers.
