After two months of intensive, participant-centred training, it was time for our participants to step beyond the classroom and put their skills on display.
We organized an exhibition where they presented their garments to some experienced fashion designers from Lower Manya Krobo. It was an opportunity to learn from seasoned professionals, people who have spent years working in the fashion industry.
The designers carefully inspected their work, shared constructive criticism, pointed out areas for improvement, and offered practical guidance to help the participants refine their skills.
For our participants, this was a different kind of learning. They were no longer receiving feedback only from their facilitator. They were beginning to experience what it feels like to have their work assessed by professionals outside their training environment.
The goal was not to tell them that their work was perfect, it was to help them understand where they are, where they need to improve, and what it will take to succeed when they eventually step into the industry.
As they prepare to begin their journey beyond the training programme, we want them to leave with sewing skills, confidence, resilience, openness to learning, and the courage to put their work out there.
