HiChale has supported the training of 20 beekeepers from Kalba and Funsi to build beehives using locally available materials.

A New Chapter for Healthcare in Kunfusi Begins!

Over the weekend, HiChale together with the District Health Directorate, traditional authorities, partners, and the people of the Kunfusi zone officially performed the sod-cutting ceremony for the commencement of a health block towards the upgrade of the Kunfusi CHPS compound into a Health Centre-level facility.

The project will provide improved healthcare infrastructure, medical equipment, and outreach support services for over 5000 direct target population and over 10000 extended population across the Kunfusi subdistrict.

This intervention is being supported by the Diocese of Münster through our partners Aktionskreis Pater Hagen e.V. and RÜT'N'ROCK FESTIVAL in Germany.

Together, we are building stronger healthcare systems and healthier communities. 💙

Following the conflicts at the middle of last year, life suddenly came to a standstill for many families in Kalba. Incomes dried up, the future became uncertain.
That’s why we’re all the more delighted to share an important milestone with you today: The first loans from our Livelihood Recovery Support Fund have been disbursed.
With this support, local people can rebuild their small businesses, create new sources of income, and gradually return to a self-determined life. It’s not just about financial aid - it’s about hope, stability, and new opportunities.
These first disbursements are just the beginning. Together, we look ahead - to a future where communities emerge stronger from difficult times.
Together we develop.

Yesterday we were in Kalba and visited the CHPS compound in Garkuon.
We’ve already reported on this project - which made it even more special to see what it has become.
What impressed us most is how intensively the facility is being used and how healthcare has now become a matter of course here.
The compound is no longer a new project. It is now a part of daily life for many people in the region.
This is exactly the impact we want to achieve: sustainable structures that endure and are truly needed.
A huge thank you to the Schmitz Foundation for the funding and to all the people who made this possible!

HiChale is honoured to receive a Citation of Appreciation from the Sawla-Tuna-Kalba District Health Directorate at the 2025 Annual Performance Review.

This recognition affirms the power of partnership in strengthening rural healthcare delivery. The Garkuon CHPS initiative reflects what collaboration, commitment, and community trust can achieve.

We are grateful to the Ghana Health Service, our partners, donors, and the communities we serve. Together, we continue to build stronger health systems across Northern Ghana.
With sustained partnership, the impact can go even further.
