This month, we celebrated our very first cocoa harvest in Ghana under Own A Pod! 🍫✨ Own A Pod is a cocoa agroforestry initiative designed to make reforestation economically sustainable while producing premium, organic, traceable cocoa. The model is simple but powerful. After illegal logging wiped out millions of trees we planted over the years, we noticed fruit trees survived — because communities valued and protected what could feed them when other food was scarce. That insight reshaped our approach to reforestation: if people benefit directly from trees, they will protect them.
We applied that principle to cocoa, creating a shared ownership model where local communities and investors co-own trees, aligning ecological restoration and climate action with long-term livelihoods.
Now we’re preparing for the next big planting. The rains are here, thousands of seedlings are ready in our nursery, and we’ve purchased 200 hectares of land for scale.
The critical next step is a tractor to clear and prepare the land. For the pilot we were able to rent one, but that option is no longer available.
We’ve already invested $20,000 from the first harvest into this purchase, but we still need $17,000 to close the gap. We’re looking for aligned partners who can help us with a short-term loan — repayable in October after our current harvest, with interest.
This is an opportunity to invest in a proven, profitable, and transformative model that restores forests, builds community wealth through shared ownership, and produces premium organic cocoa.
