Celebrating Youth Empowerment & Green Innovation

Write for World has successfully climaxed its Youth Empowered to Thrive Project with a remarkable graduation and exhibition ceremony!

In partnership with Plan International Ghana, this initiative equipped young people with skills in green businesses and entrepreneurship, preparing them to lead in sustainability and community transformation.

We are proud of our graduates who showcased their creativity, resilience, and eco-friendly enterprises. They are proof that when youth are empowered, communities thrive and the future becomes greener.

Together, we are building a generation of changemakers ready to drive sustainable development.

The Have Ando community in Afadzato South District is rewriting its story of resilience. With support from the UNDP COMDEKS Small Grants Programme, we are restoring 10 acres of degraded land through timber plantations and beekeeping to empower youth and women.
In just the first quarter, we built nursery shades, transplanted 2,000 seedlings, procured 100 beehives, and trained 53 participants in forestry and beekeeping. The community’s strong involvement shows our shared commitment to healing the land and creating sustainable livelihoods.
As we move into the next phase, we will expand participation, establish apiaries, and provide advanced training in forestry, apiary management, and business development. Together, we are planting hope, restoring biodiversity, and building lasting opportunities for generations to come.

🌱 Restoring Hope, Empowering Youth, Tackling Climate Change 🌍

For generations, Have Ando families relied on cassava dough production. But years of overuse left the land degraded and unproductive.

With support from the UNDP COMDEKS Programme, Write for World is breathing life back into 10 acres of land through timber plantation and introducing beekeeping as a fresh livelihood for youth.

From community entry to full engagement, momentum is building with massive local support. Our team has thus far:

>Built nursery shades
>Procured seedlings
>Commenced ploughing to plant seedlings
>Trained participants in tree planting and forest management

Next steps: transplanting seedlings, training in honey production, and installing 100 beehives to secure sustainable income for the community.

Big news! Yesterday, Write for World proudly signed a Memorandum of Agreement with the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) in Greater Accra, after being selected in a competitive call for proposals under the UNDP GEF-SGP COMDEKS Initiative.

Over the next 12 months, we’ll be working in the Afadzato South socio-ecological production landscape to:
🌱 Restore degraded lands through fast-growing timber plantations
🍯 Empower youth livelihoods with beekeeping
🌿 Promote biodiversity conservation and resilient landscapes

This milestone is a testament to the dedication of our incredible team whose passion for youth empowerment and community development continues to inspire change. Together, we are building a greener, more resilient future for Ghana.

The second phase of our Youth Empowered to Thrive Project (FY’26) is in full swing!
Last week, passionate youth from Kpotame and Atsieve gathered in Sogakofe for transformative training in Green Businesses & Entrepreneurship. Their journey toward economic independence has begun!
In the coming days, 60+ youth will receive free training in:
🍯 Beekeeping & Honey Production
🍄 Mushroom Cultivation
🐌 Snailery
