PED Initiative for Rural Africa Development (PiRAD) joins the global community to celebrate the world toilet day. The theme for this year 2024 celebration is "sanitation for peace".
PiRAD is calling on all with no exception to tackle the global sanitation crisis to reach the million people who are still living without safe sanitation. To building a fairer and more peaceful world today, immediate actions are needed to improve and protect people's access to sanitation.
3.5 billion people still live without safely managed sanitation, including 419 million who practice open defecation (WHO/UNICEF, 2023).
PiRAD remains resolute and committed to tackle open defecation in rural communities through its flagship one Household, one Toilet project and contribute its quota in achieving one of the targets of SDG 6; "safe toilets for all by 2030"
