Through our continuous engagement with District Assembly Authorities to empower subdistrict structures as part of the project in the Dormaa East District, Area Councils are being supported to become efficient and effective. This Friday as part of our District level Community of Practice meeting as part of the Evidence for Development project(E4D) secretaries to the Dormaa Akwamu,Asuotiano and Wamfie Area Councils presented reports from their meetings for discussions and to find solutions to governance and service delivery challenges. Among other things the issue of revenue mobilization was a top priority. The Assembly has started the process of opening bank accounts for the three Area Councils. Public education is also ongoing regarding stray animals upon which any stray animals found in communities will be impounded to owners to pay a fine before their release. This is aimed at boosting revenue generation and also ensure clean communities. The Area Councils have also been mandated to collect burial permits. Further, the Councils have been tasked to collect data on poultry farmers. Overall, through the E4D project, the three adopted Area Councils are becoming effective thanks to the partnership with cdd

Sometimes the fruits of advocacy are not immediate but takes time to be realized. It can take months and sometimes year but it requires patience,resilience and continues engagement.Today,the Tano South Municipal Assembly distributed almost 1,000 dual and hexagonal desks to public basic schools in the Municipality after years of highlighting the furniture deficit in the Municipality during our engagement with stakeholders.
