ORGANIZATION BACKGROUND
Assin Youth Development Association (AYDA) is a non profit organization which is formed by elite and concern youth of Assin. It is established to address and advocate for issues affecting the lifestyle of the youth and the way forward in Assinland. After a thorough investigations and research done by the organization, we realized that majority of the youth in Assin come from very poor background due to broken home, parental neglect and death of parents. Most parents are poor to the extent that they even found it difficult to raise money for their daily bread, this has made most of the youth to engage in all kinds of social vices and their related challenges such: high rate of joblessness and dependency ratio, teenage pregnancy, increment in deadly HIV/AIDS and STD’s and step -up in stealing, alcoholism, drug abuse and smoking.
