In 2026 alone, 911 health workers and patients have lost their lives to attacks on health care across 19 countries and territories. And nearly 1486 others have suffered injuries.

Often health workers put their duty of care above their own safety. Their loss leaves behind a grieving family, community, and a fragile health system.

Today is World Humanitarian Day.

We repeat.
HEALTH IS NEVER A TARGET.

Stop attacks on health care.

It’s .

Humanitarian workers risk their lives to save and protect children, yet they face increasing attacks by warring parties.

From the State of Palestine to Sudan, DR Congo, Myanmar, South Sudan and Afghanistan and beyond, the world is witnessing a widespread failure to protect humanitarian workers providing aid and protection to children in conflicts.

In 2025 alone, at least 350 humanitarians were killed across conflict zones, bringing the total number of humanitarians killed over the past three years to more than 1,000 – almost three times the number killed in the previous three years.

Humanitarian workers are also injured, detained, abducted and threatened, their vehicles are attacked, their supplies looted, and the hospitals and schools they support are attacked and destroyed.

They are denied safe and unimpeded humanitarian access, preventing them from reaching children with life-saving assistance and protection.

This , join us in demanding concrete action from parties to conflict and world leaders to protect humanitarian workers and their vital work for children.

Five years after the Taliban takeover in Afghanistan, the de facto authorities have issued more than 100 decrees stripping women and girls of their rights, freedoms and dignity.

No other country has so systematically dismantled the rights of half its population.

UN Women continues standing with Afghan women and girls to ensure their voices, priorities and needs remain at the heart of the global response — so they can live with dignity, have their rights respected and help shape a better future for their country.

A Community Ombudsman ensures every voice is heard

They listen to community concerns, help channel feedback, and support communities to seek solutions when they face challenges accessing health services.

In doing so, they help strengthen communication between communities and health facilities, promote accountability, and ensure that the experiences and concerns of community members are not overlooked.

At ARHR, we believe that meaningful accountability starts with listening to the people who use health services.

Today, 25 community members are being trained as Community Ombudsmen to help strengthen feedback and accountability at the health facility level.

ARHR, in collaboration with the Ghana Health Service (GHS) and with funding support from UNFPA Ghana is equipping these community champions with the knowledge and skills to listen to community concerns, support dialogue with health facilities, and ensure that community voices are heard and acted upon.

Because better health services begin with communities that can speak, be heard, and demand accountability!

Today, SRHR actors, youth advocates, CSOs, advocacy experts, and digital voices have come together to strengthen coordination and agree on priority advocacy actions to address pushback against Reproductive Health Education (RHE).

The meeting provides a space to share perspectives, identify key advocacy priorities, clarify roles, and build a stronger collective approach to advancing RHE for adolescents and young people.

The goal is clear: align our efforts, strengthen our voices, and move forward with coordinated action.

Abuse always stems from who has more power and influence, not an inability to control anger.

This core imbalance is what drives gender-based violence.

By shifting the context from an anger management issue to a structural power struggle, we can address the root cause and demand true accountability.

Consent is not assumed. It is not forced. It is not permanent.

It must be freely given, informed, and respected every single time.
Whether in a relationship, marriage, or dating, everyone has the right to say "yes," "no," or change their mind.
Let's build a culture where respect comes first, and violence has no place.

Consent isn't optional. It's essential.
