NORGIID GHANA at 2026 Shea Conference: Beyond Borders
Northern Ghana Integrated Initiatives for Development (NORGIID GHANA) was proud to participate in the 2026 Shea Conference, “Beyond Borders,” organized by the Global Shea Alliance and held at the Kempinski Hotel Accra Gold Coast City from 27–29 April 2026.
The conference brought together key actors from across the global shea value chain, including producers, businesses, policymakers, and development partners, to share knowledge, build partnerships, and discuss the future of the shea sector. Over the three days, we engaged in strategic conversations on market trends, sustainability, innovation, and policy developments shaping the industry. The conference provided a strong platform for networking and business engagement, while reinforcing the need for deeper cross-border collaboration and inclusive growth across the value chain.
For NORGIID GHANA, this conference was highly significant. It reaffirmed our commitment to protecting and restoring shea parklands, which are increasingly under threat from illegal logging and environmental degradation. The shea tree is classified as Vulnerable on the International Union for Conservation of Nature Red List and plays a critical role in supporting rural livelihoods—especially for women.
Through our work, we continue to promote the restoration of degraded shea landscapes through tree planting and Farmer Managed Natural Regeneration (FMNR), while strengthening sustainable shea value chains that deliver both environmental and economic impact.
Our participation also enabled us to build new networks and strengthen existing partnerships with stakeholders who share our vision for a more sustainable and inclusive shea sector. We see strong opportunities to expand green enterprises, empower women and youth, and improve market access for shea-based products.
We remain open to collaboration and strategic partnerships with organizations, businesses, and investors committed to protecting shea landscapes, promoting sustainable production, and creating inclusive economic opportunities for communities.
Together, we can ensure that the shea sector continues to grow while safeguarding the environment and improving livelihoods.
