With support from CDD Ghana and funding from Hewlett Foundation (USA), SCMPP-SAGs conducted budget tracking in Shama Municipal.

👥 Participation: 12 IAA Community SAGs (9 Male, 3 Female)

🎯 Purpose: To promote transparency, ensure efficient use of public funds, and hold duty-bearers accountable.

📍 Projects monitored:
🏫 Anto 6-unit classroom block – 80% complete
🏥 Shama Maternity/Theatre block – 90% complete

⚠️ Observation: Contractors were not on site during monitoring, highlighting the need for improved supervision.

In a continued effort to strengthen service delivery, SCMPP Ghana, with support from CDD-Ghana and funding from the Hewlett Foundation (USA), held a Quarterly Review Meeting in the Shama Municipal to assess progress and enhance coordination among stakeholders.

The meeting brought together 35 stakeholders (21 males, 14 females) to reflect on achievements, address challenges, and align efforts. A key highlight was the 1st and 2nd monitoring exercises across 6 schools, which are already improving hygiene, sanitation, and student performance.

As part of the engagement, SCMPP Ghana also donated sanitation tools such as brooms, dustbins, and other cleaning materials to the six selected schools to support improved hygiene practices and sustain clean learning environments.

As part of ongoing efforts to improve school environments, SCMPP Ghana, with support from CDD-Ghana and funding from the Hewlett Foundation (USA), conducted three rounds of monthly monitoring across 6 schools in the Shama Municipal, in collaboration with SHEP Coordinators and Social Action Groups (SAGs).

👥 49 monitors (24 males, 25 females) actively tracked progress, ensured compliance with environmental health standards, and supported improved sanitation practices. Encouragingly, schools are already showing steady improvement in hygiene and environmental health conditions.

SCMPP Ghana, as an Implementing Partner for CDD-Ghana’s I AM AWARE Project, held an End-of-Year Review Meeting with Zonal Social Action Groups (SAGs) to reflect on achievements, challenges, and priorities for the coming year. The meeting, held on 9th December 2025 in Shama, brought together 29 participants from six Area Councils.

Key outcomes included improvements in education, health, sanitation, and water services through community advocacy such as enhanced school security, academic performance initiatives, provision of medical supplies, and donation of computers to schools. Participants also discussed ongoing challenges and agreed to strengthen collaboration and advocacy to improve service delivery.

SCMPP Ghana, an Implementing Partner for CDD-Ghana’s I AM AWARE Project in the Shama Municipal Assembly, convened a Review Meeting with SAGs, Assembly Members, and the District Planning Coordinating Unit (DPCU) to assess implementation progress and harmonize Community Action Plans with the District’s MTDP and AAP.
The engagement, which took place on Monday, 8th December 2025 at the Assembly Conference Room, brought together 36 participants from six Area Councils, including SAG members, elected Assembly Members, and Development Planning Officers.
Key Highlights:
 Presentation of priority projects captured in the MTDP/AAP, including CHPS facilities, schools, drains, water, and sanitation infrastructure
 Open dialogue on community concerns, project timelines, and implementation challenges
 Strengthened collaboration among Assembly Members, Unit Committees, and SAGs

On Thursday, 4th December 2025, SCMPP Ghana, an Implementing Partner for CDD-Ghana’s I AM AWARE Project in the Shama Municipal Assembly, organized a training workshop for peer educators at the Muncipal Education Conference Room, Shama (Western Region).
The training brought together 30 participants including Environmental Health Officers, teachers, SHEP Coordinators, SAG members, and pupils from six selected schools to strengthen environmental health, sanitation, waste management, and hygiene practices in schools.
✨ Key highlights:
• Interactive case study discussions on waste disposal, hygiene, and peer education
• Increased awareness and practical skills for healthier school environments
• 12 peer educators inaugurated to champion sanitation in their schools

On Jan 29, 2025, SCMPP Ghana, with support from CDD-Ghana and funding from the Hewlett Flora Foundation, organized a capacity-building workshop at the Shama Municipal Assembly to strengthen participants' skills in Social Accountability, Social Audits, and Proposal Writing for improved governance and resource mobilization.
The workshop brought together 25 participants (23 males, 2 females), including assembly members, unit committee members, and social accountability groups. Mr. Agyapah led discussions on Social Accountability and Audits, emphasizing transparency, participation, and practical tools like Community Scorecards and Citizen Report Cards. Pln. Anthony Quaicoe facilitated the Proposal Writing session, guiding participants through structuring grant proposals with real-life examples.
By equipping local actors with these skills, we are strengthening community voices for better governance and accountability! 💡✨

As part of the I AM AWARE project, SCMPP Ghana, with support from CDD-Ghana and funding from the Hewlett Flora Foundation, held an M&E workshop on Jan 28, 2025, at the Shama District Assembly.

Facilitated by SCMPP Team and the Municipal Development Planning Officer. The session engaged participants 17 Assembly Members, 6 Unit Committee Members, and 6 I AM AWARE Social Action Groups from their respective area council, including 3 female representatives to enhance governance, accountability, and service delivery.
