ADVOCACY FOR CHILDREN’S RIGHT PROTECTION AND EMPOWERMENT (ACRPE)
Advocacy for Children’s Right Protection and Empowerment (ACRPE) is a non-governmental organisation that seeks to safeguard the fundamental rights of children. The aim of this organisation is to advocate and protect children’s rights, to empower children to realize their full potentials, and to act as a voice to the voiceless and a watchdog to the desolate children. Our mission is to address critical issues that are affecting the well-being of children. Through our research, we came to the realization that children are being discriminated against, abused, and exploited; thus, their fundamental human rights are trampled upon by some encroachers. It is worth mentioning that these are among several critical issues that are affecting many children in our society from achieving their God-given gifts and talents. Also, it is sad to know that children’s rights laws exist but they are not functioning. The institutions and the agencies that are mandated by law to ensure that these laws function effectively are redundant and workers are sleeping on the job. It is against this backdrop that ACRPE is poised to change the status quo and is calling on all well-meaning citizens, civil society organisations (CSOs) and the media to join in the fight against child labour and child trafficking, child abuse, and child exploitation. As a nation, we cannot continue to expect governments to solve all our problems. Together, we must all join hands to fight this course. It is our responsibility as an organisation to organize educational forums, to organize community outreach and sensitization programmes, and to write position papers to educate the general public on these critical issues in order to avert the situation. ACRPE believes the protection of children’s and the empowerment of children require not only the means or the resources but also the call for advocacy for children’s rights and the spirit of volunteering to resolve critical issues that are affecting children. We, therefore, seek to address special articles or features that have elements of human interest and are peculiar to the needs of children through our social media platforms. We will write papers to address issues affecting children’s lives in order to impact their lives positively. We will serve as watchdogs to protect the rights of children and also make sure institutions and agencies that are established with taxpayers’ money work.
ACRPE is bringing together fundamental human rights that are articulated in other international treaties. The core values, the vision, and the mission statements of ACRPE are parallel to other international principles and treaties.
It is time we pursued the common goal of fighting for the rights of children. We must be the voice of the voiceless and the watchdog to the unwatched/desolate. In ACRPE, we are advocates for change.
