SPORTS FOR HOPE AND DEVELOPMENT(SFHDF) is a non-profit, non-government, voluntary organization committed to improving the quality of life of unprivileged children within the West African Sub-Region. The organization provides direct and indirect support for children in the West African Sub-Region. The foundation’s partners is comprised of educated, exp
erienced, self-driven and committed professionals, motivated with a passion to make a lasting, positive impression on the lives of economically and socially challenged children within these societies. SPORTS FOR HOPE AND DEVELOPMENT(SFHDF) is also an NGO which brings children together through the power of sports,That is:
Soccer, volley , rugby , handball. With the aim of helping the children in the less privileged communities in and around the
Cape Coast metropolis. We also have as part of our group children with disability who are being roped in our kids. The children under (SFHDF) are between the ages from 5yrs – 15 yrs, we have Ankaful village a suburb of Cape Coast as our main training grounds. Besides sports(SFHDF) also has the Mission to support brilliant but needy children with their Basic
Education. To make the children happy we also have plans on embarking on some Educational trips that is,
Kakum National park, Cape Coast Castle , Elmina Castle , Air force base in Takoradi , Sekondi Naval Base
just to mention but a few. Plans to donate some exercise books , pens , pencils , erasers , rulers , crayons etc to some schools in
some deprived communities are also our priority. Mission
SPORTS FOR HOPE AND DEVELOPMENT(SFHDF) works to bring about a positive change in the lives of unprivileged children by employing sustainable, meaningful and productive initiatives aimed at improving the quality of education and healthcare. It further helps children identify their unique talents and guides them to develop them. VISION
The Vision of SPORTS FOR HOPE AND DEVELOPMENT(SFHDF) is to create a happy, healthy and productive world for our children; free from hunger, poverty and social injustice. HOW WE DO IT
(SFHDF) works toward the holistic development of economically and socially challenged children by creating meaningful development programs designed to improve the quality of their lives. Our various programs and initiatives provide basic life necessities such as food, shelter, clothing, education, health, and talent development. These are executed under three major thematic areas:
"I continue to believe that if children are given the necessary tools to succeed, they will succeed beyond their wildest dreams!"
Education:
Creating awareness for the need of compulsory basic education
Education cannot be overemphasized. (SFHDF) will therefore focus on creating awareness about the importance of compulsory basic education. Community programs will be organized to enlighten parents and guardians about the need and importance of compulsory basic education towards the development of the child and the community as a whole. Identifiable children groups will be identified to encourage them on the importance of basic education. Identifying street children and enrolling them in schools:
The foundation also aims to identify homeless and street children and get them enrolled them in orphanages and schools. Providing basic education needs for children:
The foundation will also, through donor funding, provide basic needs such as school uniforms, books, stationary and bags for underprivileged children. This is aimed at lessening the plight of parents and guardians in educating their children. Visiting schools to educate them on various issues that are beneficial to children. The foundation will liaise with schools and their administrators to set up programs to help educate the children.(SFHDF) sponsors and speak on various issues that will contribute to the development of the child such as child abuse, child trafficking, HIV/AIDs and other social issues. Freedom from obsession is not about something you do; it's about knowing who you are. It's about recognizing what sustains you and what exhausts you. What you love and what you think you love because you believe you can't have it. Without healthy children, no vision for children can materialize. The foundation therefore aims to collaborate with/and mobilize health institutions and health workers to organize free health screening for children in deprived schools and communities. Providing First Aid:
The foundation shall also seek sponsorship and collaborate with health professionals to provide First Aid Kits for underprivileged schools and communities. Funding Sponsorship for children with extreme medical problems:
Underprivileged children with acute ailments will be identified by the Foundation. The Foundation will then seek funding to help them find medical treatment. Talent Development:
The foundation does not only seek to assist children with formal educational essentials but also seeks to help children with special abilities. Children with special abilities in sports, music, and the like will be identified by (SFHDF) and placed in special institutions to coach them to develop and professionalize their talents while working with their schools to ensure these children complete their compulsory basic education.
