Capacity building and empowerment for rural women into mainstream
developments to overcome exclusions and poverty for sustainable developments. BACKGROUND
Despite ghana been one of the oldest country within the African continent, yet young Ghanian girls and women are still struggling for equal opportunities especially in rural areas
Majority of us are living in abject poverty with less
access to equal social, economic, cultural and political opportunities for our
sustainable developments. It is against this background that the women Empowerment Project (WEP)
Ghana was founded by Stella Atakora, a passionate community social
feminist who has succeeded in bringing other colleagues on-board the
vision for the promotion of comprehensive sustainable empowerment of rural women especially the Central and Northern region of Ghana. We are of the strongest conviction that the above mentioned problems are human made and are reversible with our collective innovative approaches through partnerships. Therefore, the below programmes will aid achievement of our set objectives for the promotion of women's empowerment in Ghana in line with implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Capacity building training for rural women for effective engagement of decision makers in rural communities for policy development and reforms,
B. Campaign/Advocacy for progressive policy implementation for
women empowerment in rural areas,
C. Partnering and sharing of ideas on best practices,
D. Campaigns against all forms of abuse and violent events against women/girls,
PSYCHOSOCIAL COUNSELING
A. Career counselling in building their professional aspirations etc. TRAINING AND EDUCATION
A. Provision of scholarships to young girls in community primary and
secondary schools,
B. Vocational skills training to adult women and other teenage mothers
through our Community innovative skills-training Academy (CISA) in various skills for sustainable developments. ENTERPRISE DEVELOPMENT
A. Establishment of local cooperatives amongst rural women,
B. Training in basic business management,
C. Support to trainees with start-up kits for income generations,
D. Training in waste recycling for organic-farming and Renewable energy etc,
E. Access to market for their products in overcoming poverty,
F.Empowerment with new technological skills to aid enterprise developments etc. SEXUAL AND REPRODUCTIVE HEALTH
A. Provision of quality information on sexual and reproductive health
services within rural communities,
B. Training on safe and sexual and reproductive health practices,
C. Establishment of awareness raising clubs in schools and communities.
