On Saturday, March 7, 2026, the Bolgatanga Goodwill Rotary Club celebrated a major milestone: the partial handover of our Water and Sanitation project to the wonderful people of the Kalbeo Zenga community.

​This Global Grant project, implemented in partnership with the Saskatoon Nutana Rotary Club (Canada) and supported by The Rotary Foundation, has achieved the following:

Phase 1 Deliverables:

• A Mechanized Borehole with two overhead storage tanks – Providing reliable, clean water and ensuring consistent supply of water. The community on their own, contributed and constructed a third overhead tank to ensure all sections of the community benefit from this project.

• 40 Household Toilet Units – Improving dignity and sanitation.

​Extensive hydrological studies were conducted to ensure we found the best drilling points to serve the community for years to come.

The second phase of the project would involve the construction of more toileta to help deal with open defecation.

Indeed ​the atmosphere was electric—filled with the songs and dances of the women of Kalbeo Zenga and heartfelt words of gratitude from community leaders.
