Youth Harvest Foundation Ghana & Friends

Youth Harvest Foundation Ghana & Friends The initiative for our projects comes from people who have been confronted with the same problems our projects are dealing with.

A non-profit organization based in Ghana, committed to providing support for children, women/girls and SRHR info & support to young people, especially in rural areas. Key aims of both organisations:
- Access to education for children and adolescents.
- professional support of young people, especially girls, who face difficulties with their sexual health, schooling and family.
- Sexual and Reproduc

tive health education. YHFG and JPG pursue a dual strategy to improve the situation of young people in Northern Ghana in a sustainable way.

1) Direct support of adolescents in school or apprenticeship. SKILL project: We support young people in their education, provide opportunities to build their personal skills and improve career opportunities. ACCR project: We promote the sexual and reproductive health and rights of young people by providing accurate information and supporting them in advocacy activities to stand up for their rights.

2) Indirect support of children and adolescents (SUNUGA project). We work with parents in local communities to ensure that all children go to school. We empower the parents economically through market led fair-trade farming and encourage them to support their children's education. Through African-European school partnerships we support schools in rural areas. Youth Harvest Foundation Ghana (YHFG)

Youth Agroforestry and Climate Resilience Programme
As part of commitment to environmental sustainability and climate change mitigation, Youth Harvest Foundation Ghana (YHFG) through the POKA project has over the years implemented tree-planting initiatives in Senior High Schools, Junior High Schools and Primary schools within the Bolgatanga Municipality. These interventions are aimed at reducing the adverse effects of climate change, protecting the environment, and fostering a culture of environmental stewardship among students.
In collaboration with the Forestry Commission in Bolgatanga, YHFG is undertaking this year’s tree-planting exercise in ten Primary and Junior High Schools across the municipality. The programme also includes educational sessions to enhance students’ understanding of the critical role trees play in conserving the environment, improving biodiversity, combating climate change, and supporting human well-being.
YHFG therefore calls on environmentally conscious individuals, institutions, development partners, and corporate organizations to strengthen their support and actively contribute to efforts aimed at safeguarding our environment from the growing threats of climate change. Through collective action, we can build resilient communities and ensure a sustainable future for generations to come.

Sexual and Gender-Based Violence (SGBV) continues to affect the safety, dignity and well-being of many individuals, including the vulnerable. Recognizing the need to strengthen survivor support services and promote responsible reporting of SGBV cases.

Youth Harvest Foundation Ghana (YHFG), with support from GIZ under the S(HE) Project: From Awareness to Action – A Gender Transformative Approach to SGBV Prevention, organized a one-day capacity-building training in the West Mamprusi and Bolgatanga Municipalities.

The training brought together stakeholders from the Ghana Health Service, Social Welfare and Community Development, DOVVSU, CHRAJ, NCCE, and the media to enhance their knowledge and skills in survivor-centred approaches, referral mechanisms, ethical reporting, and stakeholder collaboration in responding to SGBV cases.

The engagement strengthened participants' capacity to provide quality support services to survivors, promoted stronger institutional collaboration, and reinforced the importance of protecting the dignity, safety, and rights of survivors.
Together, we are building stronger systems and partnerships to prevent Sexual and Gender-Based Violence and create safer communities for all.

🌱 Empowering Young Women Through Skills for Sustainable Livelihoods

This June, Youth Harvest Foundation Ghana (YHFG), through the Women Livelihood and Financial Transformation (WomenLift) Project with support from AGRA-Ghana, has commenced practical skills training for young women across four districts and municipalities: Builsa North, Builsa South, Kassena Nankana West, and West Mamprusi.

The initiative is equipping participants with hands-on skills in:
✅ Shea Butter Processing
✅ Soya Milk and Khebab Production
✅ Weanimix and Cereal Processing

To ensure that beneficiaries are not only skilled but also financially empowered, participants are additionally undergoing financial literacy training facilitated by the Ghana Enterprise Agency (GEA), equipping them with essential knowledge in savings, business management, and financial planning.

By the end of June, the project aims to reach 2,000 young women, providing them with practical livelihood opportunities that will support their transition into decent work, enhance household incomes, and strengthen their economic resilience.

At YHFG, we believe that investing in women's economic empowerment is investing in stronger families, thriving communities, and sustainable development.

Together with AGRA-Ghana and the Ghana Enterprise Agency, we are creating pathways for young women to learn, earn, and lead.

As the world commemorates World Environment Day, the Youth Harvest Foundation Ghana (YHFG), the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE), and the Hay-Movement joined students of Anateem and Atolisum Junior High Schools in the Bolgatanga Municipality to mark the occasion.

In alignment with Sustainable Development Goal 13: Climate Action, the team engaged students on the importance of environmental stewardship. Discussions emphasized tree planting, proper waste management, prevention of deforestation, protection of water bodies, and avoiding harmful practices such as burning.

Students were encouraged to take action by planting trees at home and educating their families and peers on the need to maintain a clean and safe environment. The team also monitored trees planted in 2024 and 2025, noting with satisfaction that most have survived and remain healthy.

We call on individuals, organizations, and cooperatives to join hands in safeguarding our environment ensuring a healthier, safer future for all.

Every year, May 28 is observed globally as Menstrual Hygiene Day, a day dedicated to breaking the silence, raising awareness, and promoting good menstrual health and hygiene.

To mark this year’s celebration, the Youth Harvest Foundation Ghana (YHFG), HAY-Movement, and Ndepoka Foundation, in collaboration with the Ghana Health Service, engaged 250 teenage mothers across five communities in the Bawku West District.

The commemoration provided a platform to educate teenage mothers and adolescents on the importance of menstruation and menstrual hygiene. Discussions also focused on dispelling common myths and misconceptions surrounding menstruation, while encouraging regular medical check-ups to detect and treat abnormalities early.

In addition, the team donated sanitary pads, gently used clothing, and footwear to support the teenage mothers in maintaining dignity and confidence during their menstrual cycles.

As we reflect on this year’s theme, we call on individuals, organizations, and Government to take bold action in supporting girls and women. This includes reducing taxes on sanitary products to make them more affordable, ensuring access to proper water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) facilities, and promoting policies that prioritize menstrual health as a key component of public health and gender equity.

Together, we can create a world where menstruation is no longer a barrier to education, health, and empowerment.
