YHFG has joined youth-led and youth-focused civil society organisations, government institutions, development partners and regional Youth, Peace and Security practitioners for the Official Launch and Peer Learning Forum of the Ghana Civil Society Coalition on Youth, Peace and Security, being held from 6–7 October 2026 in Accra.

Held under the theme “Strengthening Civil Society Collaboration to Advance the Youth, Peace and Security Agenda in Ghana,” the two-day forum will provide a platform for knowledge exchange, peer learning, coalition-building and collective reflection on the role of civil society in advancing the YPS agenda in Ghana.

Discussions will focus on strengthening civil society understanding of Youth, Peace and Security, Ghana’s National Action Plan process, effective approaches to YPS programming, coalition-building and coordinated advocacy.

The forum will also provide an opportunity to learn from practitioners and civil society actors from The Gambia, Liberia and Nigeria, countries with experience in developing and implementing National Action Plans on Youth, Peace and Security.

YHFG is pleased to contribute to this important collective effort and remains committed to strengthening youth participation, peacebuilding, collaboration and advocacy.

Youth Harvest Foundation Ghana (YHFG), with funding support from Plan International Ghana through Global Affairs Canada (GAC), engaged 30 traditional and religious leaders under the project, “Advancing Young Women’s Leadership, Economic Power, and Freedom from Violence.” The engagement focused on women’s inclusion in household and community decision-making, barriers to women’s leadership, and the role of traditional and religious leaders in creating opportunities for women and girls to lead.
Participants shared experiences and explored practical ways to promote women’s participation in leadership and decision-making within their communities. YHFG welcomed representatives from AGRA for a monitoring visit to assess progress under the WOMENLIFT Project, funded by the Mastercard Foundation through AGRA.

The visit provided an opportunity for the AGRA team to engage with the YHFG team on project implementation, achievements, emerging lessons, and the experiences of women participating in the programme.

The monitoring exercise extended to the field, where the team interacted directly with women beneficiaries who have received training in soya processing and value addition. The women demonstrated how they are applying their newly acquired skills to produce a range of nutritious and marketable products, including soya kebab, soya milk, tom brown, Wennimix and other soya-based products.

Importantly, YHFG used the opportunity to provide additional support to the women with selected raw materials and processing equipment to enable them to put their skills into practice, increase their production capacity, improve product quality, and begin scaling their businesses.

The support reflects YHFG's commitment to ensuring that training does not end in the classroom but translates into practical economic opportunities, increased productivity, sustainable livelihoods and job creation for women.

The field engagement also offered valuable insights into the progress being made, the challenges women continue to face, and opportunities to further strengthen support as they transition from training to sustainable businesses.

At YHFG, we remain committed to working with AGRA, the Mastercard Foundation and other partners to ensure that investments in women translate into skills, businesses, jobs, improved livelihoods and lasting transformation.

Having successfully conducted the Shea and Soya Processing training for 54 groups in Builsa South, Builsa North, Kassena Nankana West and West Mamprusi districts and Municipals with Support from AGRA-Ghana and Mastercard Foundation, YHFG through the WOMENLIFT Project has provided training for all group leaders in both districts. A total of 226 leaders received training on leadership, group dynamics, financial and cooperative management, digital transactions, and savings and loans.

This training aimed to equip the leaders with the requisite knowledge and skills to enable them to manage their groups effectively and efficiently while producing shea butter and soya products to improve their livelihoods and that of their group members.

The Executive Director of Youth Harvest Foundation Ghana, together with the Gender and Child Protection Specialist, participated in the Annual Women in Governance Convening, which featured a panel discussion on the theme: “Advancing Women’s Leadership and Accelerating the Implementation of Ghana’s Affirmative Action Act.”
The convening was organised under the HEARD II (Heard Everywhere and Represented Daily) project, implemented by RISE-Ghana with funding support from NORSAAC.
The session was highly interactive and provided an important platform for meaningful dialogue on strengthening women’s leadership and promoting the effective implementation of Ghana’s Affirmative Action Act. The discussions were timely, insightful, and relevant to ongoing efforts to advance women’s participation and representation in leadership and governance. As part of the celebrations marking International Youth Day 2026, Youth Harvest Foundation Ghana (YHFG) joined young people and like-minded youth organisations at the National Youth Conference at KNUST.

The conference provided a platform for meaningful dialogue on critical issues affecting young people across Ghana, including job creation and decent employment, peace and security, digital inclusion, youth participation, and sustainable development.

On Day One, YHFG also served as a panelist for the Youth, Peace and Security (YPS) and Social Cohesion breakout session, contributing to discussions on Ghana’s conflict context, the role of young people in peacebuilding, and practical approaches to strengthening social cohesion.

At YHFG, we remain committed to promoting meaningful youth participation, creating opportunities for young people, and empowering them to contribute to peaceful, inclusive and sustainable development.

We believe young people are not just beneficiaries of development but partners and leaders in shaping Ghana’s future.

Youth Harvest Foundation Ghana Girls Remedial School (GRS)
The purpose of the Youth Harvest Foundation Ghana Girls' Remedial School (GRS) is to provide a second chance for vulnerable girls in Northern Ghana who have failed their Senior High School exams but cannot afford private tutoring. By offering free remedial classes, free boarding, and holistic support, the program prevents early/child marriage, helps girls pass their re-sit exams, and empower them to pursue higher education thereby breaking the cycle of poverty and creating pathways to independence, as seen in success stories shared in the documentary. The remedial school was started in 2014, and over 250 girls have benefitted from the initiative so far. The school, however, lacks sustainable and long-term funding although we have been supported by JPG and Mundo Cooperate on short term contracts, YHFG is struggling to cover basic costs such as teachers’ stipends, learning and teaching materials, utility and maintenance cost for the running of the school. Without support in 2027, we may be forced to scale back or close the program leaving dozens of vulnerable girls without a path forward. We are therefore reaching out to trusted partners for urgent support. An amount of EUR 26,809.41is needed to run the school per year.

Sexual and Gender-Based Violence (SGBV) continues to affect the safety, dignity and well-being of many individuals, including the vulnerable. Recognizing the need to strengthen survivor support services and promote responsible reporting of SGBV cases.

Youth Harvest Foundation Ghana (YHFG), with support from GIZ under the S(HE) Project: From Awareness to Action – A Gender Transformative Approach to SGBV Prevention, organized a one-day capacity-building training in the West Mamprusi and Bolgatanga Municipalities.

The training brought together stakeholders from the Ghana Health Service, Social Welfare and Community Development, DOVVSU, CHRAJ, NCCE, and the media to enhance their knowledge and skills in survivor-centred approaches, referral mechanisms, ethical reporting, and stakeholder collaboration in responding to SGBV cases.

The engagement strengthened participants' capacity to provide quality support services to survivors, promoted stronger institutional collaboration, and reinforced the importance of protecting the dignity, safety, and rights of survivors.
Together, we are building stronger systems and partnerships to prevent Sexual and Gender-Based Violence and create safer communities for all.
