The Executive Director of Youth Harvest Foundation Ghana, together with the Gender and Child Protection Specialist, participated in the Annual Women in Governance Convening, which featured a panel discussion on the theme: “Advancing Women’s Leadership and Accelerating the Implementation of Ghana’s Affirmative Action Act.”
The convening was organised under the HEARD II (Heard Everywhere and Represented Daily) project, implemented by RISE-Ghana with funding support from NORSAAC.
The session was highly interactive and provided an important platform for meaningful dialogue on strengthening women’s leadership and promoting the effective implementation of Ghana’s Affirmative Action Act. The discussions were timely, insightful, and relevant to ongoing efforts to advance women’s participation and representation in leadership and governance. As part of the celebrations marking International Youth Day 2026, Youth Harvest Foundation Ghana (YHFG) joined young people and like-minded youth organisations at the National Youth Conference at KNUST.

The conference provided a platform for meaningful dialogue on critical issues affecting young people across Ghana, including job creation and decent employment, peace and security, digital inclusion, youth participation, and sustainable development.

On Day One, YHFG also served as a panelist for the Youth, Peace and Security (YPS) and Social Cohesion breakout session, contributing to discussions on Ghana’s conflict context, the role of young people in peacebuilding, and practical approaches to strengthening social cohesion.

At YHFG, we remain committed to promoting meaningful youth participation, creating opportunities for young people, and empowering them to contribute to peaceful, inclusive and sustainable development.

We believe young people are not just beneficiaries of development but partners and leaders in shaping Ghana’s future.

Youth Harvest Foundation Ghana Girls Remedial School (GRS)
The purpose of the Youth Harvest Foundation Ghana Girls' Remedial School (GRS) is to provide a second chance for vulnerable girls in Northern Ghana who have failed their Senior High School exams but cannot afford private tutoring. By offering free remedial classes, free boarding, and holistic support, the program prevents early/child marriage, helps girls pass their re-sit exams, and empower them to pursue higher education thereby breaking the cycle of poverty and creating pathways to independence, as seen in success stories shared in the documentary. The remedial school was started in 2014, and over 250 girls have benefitted from the initiative so far. The school, however, lacks sustainable and long-term funding although we have been supported by JPG and Mundo Cooperate on short term contracts, YHFG is struggling to cover basic costs such as teachers’ stipends, learning and teaching materials, utility and maintenance cost for the running of the school. Without support in 2027, we may be forced to scale back or close the program leaving dozens of vulnerable girls without a path forward. We are therefore reaching out to trusted partners for urgent support. An amount of EUR 26,809.41is needed to run the school per year.

Official Close-Out Meeting of the SHARE Project!!!

The Youth Harvest Foundation Ghana(YHFG), in collaboration with RTP, convened a close-out event in the Bongo District to formally conclude the implementation of the SHARE project at both the district and regional levels on 9th July 2026.

The SHARE project was designed to achieve the following key objectives:
• Increased equitable use of gender-responsive SRHR information and services among adolescents and young people, with a particular focus on girls and young women;
• Improved delivery of quality, inclusive, and gender-responsive SRHR services tailored to the needs of adolescents and young people;
• Enhanced social action among key stakeholders, especially adolescent girls and young women, to advocate for gender-responsive SRHR services and policies.

These objectives were realized through a comprehensive approach that included weekly school-based and community-based mentorship programs for adolescent boys, girls, and youth, as well as community sensitization sessions targeting parents, adolescents, and community leaders on gender-responsive SRHR.

During the event, participants shared powerful testimonials on the project’s impact and appealed to the donor for continued support to extend the benefits to more adolescents in the region.

As project funding concludes, stakeholders and participants were strongly encouraged to ensure the program’s sustainability by utilizing project resources and the knowledge acquired to continue educating and empowering other adolescents and young people across the district.

YHFG takes this opportunity to extend its sincere gratitude to all project participants including the Ghana Health Service (GHS), Ghana Education Service (GES), nurse mentors, community-based mentors, mentees, and community leaders for their invaluable cooperation, dedication, and support throughout the project lifecycle in the Bongo District.

Youth Harvest Foundation Ghana (YHFG) successfully underwent its second Participatory Institutional Assessment (PIA) conducted by Plan International. The PIA is a comprehensive assessment framework designed to evaluate the institutional capacity, governance structures, management systems, and overall performance of implementing partners. It seeks to identify organisational strengths, capacity gaps, and opportunities for continuous improvement, thereby ensuring that partner organisations are well-positioned to deliver high-quality programmes in line with Plan International's standards, values, and accountability requirements.
YHFG is honoured to be a valued partner of Plan International Ghana and expresses its sincere appreciation for the continued collaboration and support. Youth Agroforestry and Climate Resilience Programme
As part of commitment to environmental sustainability and climate change mitigation, Youth Harvest Foundation Ghana (YHFG) through the POKA project has over the years implemented tree-planting initiatives in Senior High Schools, Junior High Schools and Primary schools within the Bolgatanga Municipality. These interventions are aimed at reducing the adverse effects of climate change, protecting the environment, and fostering a culture of environmental stewardship among students.
In collaboration with the Forestry Commission in Bolgatanga, YHFG is undertaking this year’s tree-planting exercise in ten Primary and Junior High Schools across the municipality. The programme also includes educational sessions to enhance students’ understanding of the critical role trees play in conserving the environment, improving biodiversity, combating climate change, and supporting human well-being.
YHFG therefore calls on environmentally conscious individuals, institutions, development partners, and corporate organizations to strengthen their support and actively contribute to efforts aimed at safeguarding our environment from the growing threats of climate change. Through collective action, we can build resilient communities and ensure a sustainable future for generations to come.

Sexual and Gender-Based Violence (SGBV) continues to affect the safety, dignity and well-being of many individuals, including the vulnerable. Recognizing the need to strengthen survivor support services and promote responsible reporting of SGBV cases.

Youth Harvest Foundation Ghana (YHFG), with support from GIZ under the S(HE) Project: From Awareness to Action – A Gender Transformative Approach to SGBV Prevention, organized a one-day capacity-building training in the West Mamprusi and Bolgatanga Municipalities.

The training brought together stakeholders from the Ghana Health Service, Social Welfare and Community Development, DOVVSU, CHRAJ, NCCE, and the media to enhance their knowledge and skills in survivor-centred approaches, referral mechanisms, ethical reporting, and stakeholder collaboration in responding to SGBV cases.

The engagement strengthened participants' capacity to provide quality support services to survivors, promoted stronger institutional collaboration, and reinforced the importance of protecting the dignity, safety, and rights of survivors.
Together, we are building stronger systems and partnerships to prevent Sexual and Gender-Based Violence and create safer communities for all.

🌱 Empowering Young Women Through Skills for Sustainable Livelihoods

This June, Youth Harvest Foundation Ghana (YHFG), through the Women Livelihood and Financial Transformation (WomenLift) Project with support from AGRA-Ghana, has commenced practical skills training for young women across four districts and municipalities: Builsa North, Builsa South, Kassena Nankana West, and West Mamprusi.

The initiative is equipping participants with hands-on skills in:
✅ Shea Butter Processing
✅ Soya Milk and Khebab Production
✅ Weanimix and Cereal Processing

To ensure that beneficiaries are not only skilled but also financially empowered, participants are additionally undergoing financial literacy training facilitated by the Ghana Enterprise Agency (GEA), equipping them with essential knowledge in savings, business management, and financial planning.

By the end of June, the project aims to reach 2,000 young women, providing them with practical livelihood opportunities that will support their transition into decent work, enhance household incomes, and strengthen their economic resilience.

At YHFG, we believe that investing in women's economic empowerment is investing in stronger families, thriving communities, and sustainable development.

Together with AGRA-Ghana and the Ghana Enterprise Agency, we are creating pathways for young women to learn, earn, and lead.
