Celebrating Unity and Cohesion through Culture & Play

BEWDA-Ghana, in partnership with Star Ghana Foundation under the Building Resilience Against Violent Extremism (BRAVE II) project funded by GCERF, stands in solidarity with five communities across four districts in the Upper East Region of Ghana - namely Kugri in Garu, Sapeliga in Bawku West, Bansi in Binduri, and Mandago and Nware in Pusiga. Together, we foster peaceful co-existence and strengthen resilience for peace and security.
Our impactful approach includes peer-to-peer initiatives such as cultural dance, traditional games, and indigenous food preparation, which help pass knowledge and skills to future generations. These activities are carried out in an inclusive and participatory manner, creating spaces where diverse groups, including community members, Fulbe and refugees perform side by side, strengthening bonds of unity and co-creating their vision statements.
• Share joy through diverse cultural performances
• Connect across generations with traditional games and indigenous/local food preparations
• Celebrate diversity while fostering trust and respect for all
By honoring our differences and celebrating together, we are building communities rooted in social cohesion, resilience, security, and lasting peace.

Strengthening Communities, Ending Violence!
BEWDA-Ghana in partnership with ActionAid Ghana organized a refresher training for our Community Based Anti Violence Team (COMBAT) in the Pusiga District of the Upper East region, Ghana, to sharpen skills and strategies in tackling domestic violence.
The discussions focused on:
• Raising awareness in households and neighborhoods
• Supporting survivors with compassion and confidentiality
• Building stronger partnerships to prevent violence before it starts
Together, we are stepping up to end domestic violence and build safer, stronger communities.
