On the Passing of Honourable Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, Minister for Defence
It is with deep sorrow and a heavy heart that the Central Regional Council of Northern Chiefs extends its heartfelt condolences to the Ministry of Defence, the Ghana Armed Forces, the bereaved family, and the entire nation on the sudden and untimely passing of Honourable Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, Minister for Defence.
Honourable Boamah was not only a dedicated public servant but a man of peace, vision, and integrity who understood the vital role traditional leadership plays in ensuring national unity and security. His tenure as Defence Minister was marked by respect for our customs, close collaboration with traditional authorities, and a sincere desire to build strong partnerships between the Defence Ministry and the chieftaincy institution.
We fondly remember the fruitful relationship our council shared with Honourable Boamah and the Ministry of Defence under his leadership. He consistently engaged with our chiefs in a spirit of respect, inclusion, and cooperation, particularly in matters concerning national security, peacebuilding, and community development.
His legacy will be remembered not only for his contributions to governance and defence but also for the respect he showed to tradition, and his efforts to bridge the gap between state institutions and local leadership. His passing is a great loss to Ghana and to all who cherished peace and unity.
We pray that the Almighty grants him eternal rest and comforts his family, colleagues, and the entire Defence Ministry during this difficult time. The Central Regional Council of Northern Chiefs stands in solidarity with the Ministry of Defence and will continue to support efforts that uphold the values Honourable Boamah so faithfully represented.
