On the 8th of July 2026, the Alliance for Environmental Intervention (AfEI), in collaboration with the Ghana Youth Environmental Movement (GYEM), conducted a field visit to the Climate-Smart Adaptation Village in Asikuma, Eastern Region.
As part of the visit, some local farmers were taken to the demonstration farm to witness the progress of the climate-smart interventions.
The engagement was highly interactive, with farmers asking questions, sharing their experiences, and learning from the practical demonstrations.
Farmers were encouraged to continue adopting mulching as a sustainable practice to conserve soil moisture, suppress weeds, and improve crop productivity.
They were also advised to plant bean seedlings to naturally improve soil fertility through nitrogen fixation.
To support this effort, the project distributed Mucuna beans to participating farmers, as they are currently scarce within the region.
Topping it all off for the day, we planted some pawpaw seedlings on the demonstration field.
The visit reaffirmed the importance of continuous farmer engagement, knowledge sharing, and practical support in building resilient farming communities capable of adapting to the impacts of climate change.
Together, we are transforming landscapes, strengthening livelihoods, and advancing sustainable agriculture, one community at a time.
