Rays of Hope Centre

Rays of Hope Centre The project started in 1997 by the vision of a German Catholic Priest, Rev Father Lienhard Konrad.

Rays of Hope Centre (ROHC) is an NGO in Ghana that reaches out to vulnerable street connected children and helps them to continue their education and reunite with families. By now we have reached out to over 500 children in Tema, Ashaiman, and Accra, and helped over 300 children to return to school and integrate into society. We are currently taking care of 72 beneficiaries in two centres:
--> First Contact Place (FCP) in Ashaiman
--> Welfare, Empowerment & Mobility Centre (WEM) in Ayikuma

Happy International Women’s Day! 🌍✨🎉

Strong 💪, courageous 🌟, and full of potential 🚀 – today, we celebrate all the women and girls who shape the world with their strength, determination, and resilience! 💙💜 At the same time, we highlight how important it is to continue advocating for equal opportunities for everyone. ⚖️🌍

Today, we engaged in inspiring conversations 🗣️✨ and reflections 🤔💭 on what it means to be a man or a woman in this world. The thoughts and ideas of the children reminded us once again how crucial it is to keep fighting for equality. 💕✊

We also talked about strong Ghanaian women 🇬🇭, such as Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, the first woman to be nominated as a vice-presidential candidate for a major political party in Ghana. Her leadership and dedication continue to inspire future generations. 👏🌟

Let’s work together for a world where everyone has the same opportunities – not just today, but every day! Because when we empower girls and women as well as boys and men, we empower society as a whole! 🚀🌍💙

Happy International Women’s Day! 🌍✨🎉

World children's day

Every 20th of November marks the Celebration of World Children's Day, dedicated to recalling the adoption of both the Declaration and the Convention on the Rights of the Child. Both aim to promote the ideals of the UN Charter and the well-being of all children worldwide. 2024 marks 35 years of the Convention with Ghana being the first country worldwide, which signed the treaty just after two months of its creation. To celebrate this occasion, the volunteers held a presentation about the importance of this day. The beneficiaries learned about their rights as children and being responsible to make use of these rights. Especially in the context of education with the WEM-Centre as a foundation to learn.

20. November 2024

Weltkindertag

At WEM-Centre, we have Abigail, Esther, Grace, Lorenda, and Michael at Roman Catholic Basic School and ROHC International School. In Ashaiman's FCP, Moses, Grace, Jennifer, Isaac, Roger, Naomi, and Godson are attending Presbyterian School, Pentecost Prep, Holy Gabriel Anglican, and Jubilee International School.

They're adjusting well, making friends, and thriving in school!

About Us

Rays of Hope Centre (ROHC) came into existence as a Non-Governmental-Organisation in the year 2009, through the vision of Father Konrad Lienhard, who hailed from the Oblates de St. Francis de Sales, Germany.

In collaboration with Ghanaians who shared in his vision of establishing contact with and improving the plight of marginalised, vulnerable and non-schooling children on the streets, the organisation was established in 1997 under the umbrella organization ‘‘the Salesians of Don Bosco.’’

Unlike orthodox teachers, the members of our teaching staff, do not only focus on the academic performance of the individual, but consider the holistic development of our beneficiaries. Taking into consideration their growth mentally, morally, socially, culturally, religiously as well as academically.
