The World Water Day 2026 theme is "Water and Gender," accompanied by the campaign slogan "Where Water Flows, Equality Grows". This theme focuses on the crucial link between safe water access and gender equality, highlighting how improving sanitation and water supply empowers women and girls, who are often disproportionately affected by water shortages

Trees and Plants are the lungs of a forest. Through photosynthesis they take in carbon dioxide, store carbon in their wood and soil, and release oxygen, helping to regulate the atmosphere and mitigate climate change. At the same time, their roots stabilize the soil, filter water, and create habitats for countless other organisms, making the whole ecosystem healthier and more resilient.

In Ghana, where forest cover has been declining, protecting and restoring trees is especially important for both the environment and local communities that depend on forest products and services. Planting native species, supporting sustainable agroforestry, and strengthening forest‑management policies are all ways to keep those “lungs” breathing.

It's the peak breeding season for the White-necked Rockfowl in Ghana. Let's be guided in our quest to spend time at the nests to get a great view and photos. Note that the longer you stay at a nest, the more you deprive the brood of the optimum conditions required for the egg to hatch or the chick to stay healthy.
