In relation to consent; No is definitive and exhaustive ( leaving no room for further interpretation). This is not just a societal construct, it is the law.

Respecting each other’s boundaries is the cornerstone of human dignity.

Miss Francisca Debrah
Director of SFCLC.

Mr. Tieku Dadey (Computer lab Manager of SFCLC) elaborated on the theme “No Means No” stressing firmness and respect for boundaries, because respect breeds dignity.

Thank you for teaching students to remain resolute and never to feel guilty for saying “No.” Every “No” ignored is not coincidence, but a deliberate attempt to undermine dignity.

Miss Francisca Debrah,Director of SFCLC and herself a law student, hosted the program under the theme “No Means No.” She explained that because the audience comprised individuals below sixteen years, any purported agreement to sexual activity constitutes defilement under Act 29 irrespective of apparent acquiescence.

She emphasized that at their age any indecent assault must be reported immediately, since early reporting protects survivors and prevents escalation into more grievous crimes such as defilement.

Also, Miss Debrah further highlighted that sexual violence is not limited to girls; boys too can be victims of unnatural carnal knowledge, and they must speak up or report to the appropriate authorities (DOVSU).

She concluded by urging students to ask questions without fear, as dialogue is the only path to answers and an essential step toward healing.

Every question asked was not casual curiosity; it was a deliberate act to search for the truth and a recognition of the unfairness endured in silence. Each word carried the weight of solidarity, each response a testament that your pain was seen and acknowledged.

SFLC affirms: this is not the end. The journey toward justice continues, and the contact details shared at the close of the program are more than numbers, they are lifelines, ringtones ready to answer, to stand with you, and to act when called upon.

Your voice matters.
You do not deserve such trauma.
You are not alone.
You deserve healing.

Miss Cecelia’s message was very concise ; if you are sexually violated, it is imperative that you seek immediate medical care at the nearest hospital.

Prompt treatment safeguards your health, ensures the preservation of crucial evidence, and facilitates access to counseling and legal support.

Thank you for your unwavering commitment to health and advocacy.

The Crime Officer together with the CID/Domestic Violence and Victims Support Unit(DOVSU) team from the Akosombo Police Department honored our invitation and shared their frontline experiences in handling victims of abuse. They stressed that silence only deepens the pain and every violation must be reported.

Their message reminded our students that victims are never alone. DOVSU stands ready to listen, investigate, and support survivors.

Thank you for generously sharing your contact details with our students at the close of the session, and for encouraging us to extend this initiative by organizing a follow up program for parents and teachers within the community.

We hosted 360 students under the theme “No Means No”, confronting r**e, defilement, indecent assault, and unnatural carnal knowledge. The program was powerful, with experts leading discussions and students actively engaging.

The theme marks the start of a broader awareness campaign, and we will go again reaching more students, deepening conversations, and strengthening the fight against sexual violence.

“No Means No” is not a one time message; it is a movement we are determined to carry forward until every voice is heard and every right is protected.
