The Professional Redeployment Programme (PRP) is a registered non‐governmental organization formed to promote and facilitate the return and reintegration of highly qualified and skilled Ghanaian migrants to contribute to the socio‐economic and technological development of the country. The programme aims to achieve this goal by proactively exploring and identifying job opportunities in
the private and public sector nationwide and then linking highly skilled Ghanaian resident abroad wishing to return and take up these positions. PRP in addition would offer support systems to immigrants to facilitate the reintegration process. The project is to help promote voluntary return to improve brain drain problem in the country. The project will have an initial pilot phase, which will be reviewed in all aspects to respond to immerging implementation challenges. The programme will concentrate on promoting job opportunities to target highly skilled migrants in the USA and UK as these two countries have traditionally been the magnet or epicentre of immigrants and are known to host a large number of highly skilled Ghanaians. Subsequent phase of the programme would depend on the findings and recommendations of an evaluation of the preceding phase by external evaluators appointed by our donors. The programme intends to roll out to other Western countries when it does enter into another phase of implementation. Goal and Objectives
The overall objectives of the programme are to:
• Identify job opportunities in the private and public sector organizations nationwide and then advertise these positions to reach qualified nationals resident in the target countries
• Assist nationals in the return and reintegration process by helping them identify suitable and affordable accommodation, schools for their children etc. Assist returnees to become suitably and gainfully employed by aiding them find jobs commensurate with their qualifications and expertise
• Provide nationals who want to become self‐employed, with technical assistance and guidance on wide‐ranging information on establishing and running a business venture
