As we mark the conclusion of breast cancer awareness month, awareness efforts must continue.

Ghana continues to fall significantly short of its cancer targets, largely due to persistently low screening rates and a high proportion of cases diagnosed at an advanced stage.

According to Teva Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. assessment, as of early 2025, up to 70% of women were diagnosed with advanced-stage cancer (stages III and IV). This significantly limits treatment success rates and increases fatality.

To reverse this trend, the Ghana Health Service and allied agencies must take urgent measures to increase support for year-round awareness creation campaigns to ensure early diagnosis and treatment.

The maiden edition of an intergenerational peace dialogue will convene elders, the middle generation, and youth to learn, contribute, and shape locally driven and inclusive approaches to conflict prevention and peacebuilding in the five Northern regions of Ghana.

This quarter’s forum will address three key themes:

1. Generational Context of Wars and Conflicts in Northern Ghana
2. Intergenerational Approaches to Preventing Violent Extremism
3. Storytelling for Peacebuilding
