From Accra to the Savannah and Northern Regions of , I joined the Deutsche Welle (DW) crew as they filmed a special spotlight on the Young Reporters for the Environment Ghana program — showcasing how young people are using journalism to drive environmental change.

I visited Mr. Jakpa, who’s leading biodiversity conservation efforts in Mole, and Pinnacle Star Academy in Kanvili — an innovative school pioneering creative strategies for Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) through the Eco-Schools Ghana Program.

In , plastic pollution stemming from a heavy reliance on single-use plastics, particularly in the form of marine litter and microplastics, is one of the most pressing environmental challenges.

Funded by Norad, coordinated by The Basel, Rotterdam and Stockholm Conventions Secretariat, and implemented by the Ministry of Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation through the Center for Sustainable Transformation - CEST's Eco-Schools Ghana Methodology, the Plastic-Free School Pilot Phase 2 under the Marine Litter & Microplastics Project, is equipping young people with the education, skills, and innovative approaches to rise up to the challenge.
