Today, we hosted The Global Fund team to review the progress of our Adolescent Girls and Young Women (AGYW) Project. The discussions highlighted the project’s growing impact in empowering adolescent girls and young women with HIV prevention education, testing services, treatment support, and access to sexual and reproductive health information and services.

We are incredibly grateful for the Global Fund's continued commitment to health equity and for standing with us to build a safer, more informed future for every girl.

A huge thank you to our partners and stakeholders. Together, we can continue to drive change, protect futures, and advance the fight against HIV.

“Beginning January 2030, Ghana fully budgets for and finances these vaccines and essential medicines.” — Finance Minister Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson

Ghana’s commitment to fully finance vaccines and essential medicines beginning in 2030 reflects growing momentum toward sustainable immunization financing — a key focus of the FAIR Project.

HFFG’s recent policy brief provides deeper insights into the financing gaps, opportunities, and policy actions needed to sustain immunization coverage in Ghana. 🇬🇭

Ghana’s immunization programme stands as a major public health success, achieving 98% coverage of the third dose of the diphtheria, tetanus, and pertussis (DTP3) vaccine—protecting children against three life-threatening diseases—and significantly reducing child mortality through strong partnerships with Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance and others. However, the transition to full domestic vaccine financing is introducing new fiscal pressures that require deliberate planning, increased budget allocation, and sustained political commitment to sustain Ghana’s immunization gains.

This policy brief, developed under the FAIR Project by Hope for Future Generations Ghana with support from Global Health Advocacy Incubator, highlights urgent funding gaps—from delayed government co-financing to the absence of dedicated budget lines—and calls for decisive action to secure Ghana’s “immunization sovereignty” and protect the future of child health.

Hope For Future Generations (HFFG) joins the global community in commemorating the International Day of Midwives, honouring the dedication, resilience, and invaluable contributions of midwives in safeguarding the health and well-being of mothers and newborns.

This year’s celebration is on the theme: “One Million More Midwives.” The theme calls for increased investment in training, recruitment, and retention of midwives to address the global shortage of skilled birth attendants and to ensure that every woman and newborn has access to quality care.

Midwives continue to serve as frontline health providers, offering essential care, guidance, and emotional support to women and families throughout pregnancy, childbirth, and the postnatal period, particularly in underserved communities.

The HPV vaccine prevents persistent HPV infections and offers long-term protection against cervical cancer. It works best when given before exposure to the virus, which is why all girls aged 9–14 years should be vaccinated. The vaccine is administered as a single injection, and one dose is enough to provide maximum protection.

Malaria remains a major public health challenge, but it is preventable and treatable. The insights shared by health leaders during the World Malaria Day 2026 commemoration in La Nkwantanang-Madina remind us of what is at stake. Sustained investment, early detection, and strong community engagement are critical to preserving the gains made so far.
