GDNR Drives .gh Awareness at Ongoing National ICT Week 2026
The Ghana Domain Name Registry (GDNR) is actively participating in the ongoing National ICT Week 2026, organized by the National Information Technology Agency (NITA). Taking place from August 17th through Thursday, August 20th, 2026, at the Cedi Conference Centre, University of Ghana, Legon, the event brings together key industry stakeholders under the theme: "Innovation at Scale: Creating Opportunities Across Ghana’s Digital Ecosystem."
As a central highlight of the event’s exhibition, the GDNR booth has become a vibrant hub for education and stakeholder engagement. GDNR representatives are on-site daily to interact with attendees, business leaders, startups, and tech enthusiasts, emphasizing the strategic role of Ghana's country-code top-level domain (.gh) in building a secure and trusted digital economy.
The exhibition booth has drawn prominent attention from across the technology sector and public leadership, welcoming key government officials, industry leaders, and policymakers. Among the distinguished dignitaries hosted by the GDNR team are Nana Oye Bampoe Addo, Deputy Chief of Staff; Hon. Mohammed Adam Sukparu, Member of Parliament for Sissala West and Deputy Minister for Communication, Digital Technology, and Innovations; Estelle Akofio-Sowah, Chairperson of GDNR and NITA, alongside members of the NITA Board; and Nana Yaw Amoah-Yeboah, Director General of NITA. Their visits underscore a shared national commitment to prioritizing a robust digital identity and supporting GDNR’s core mandate.
Educating Participants on the .gh Ecosystem
Throughout the event, GDNR staff have been providing hands-on guidance to participants regarding critical aspects of the country's domain space. GDNR representatives are actively demonstrating how adopting a .gh extension such as .com.gh, .edu.gh, or .org.gh strengthens local brand authority, boosts consumer confidence, and secures an authentically Ghanaian digital identity.
In addition, staff are educating visitors on GDNR's statutory mandate under the Electronic Transactions Act (Act 772) to administer, manage, and regulate the national domain name space in accordance with international best practices.
