In just a few weeks, schools will reopen, and heads of both public and private schools will once again face the difficult balancing act of providing nutritious meals while ensuring that children have what matters most: quality education.

With the rising cost of ingredients and limited school meal budgets, feeding children can become a significant operational burden.

That’s where Food For All Africa’s LunchBox School Feeding Initiative comes in. 🍱

With our two central kitchens in Spintex and Shai Hills, we are calling on school heads to leave the burden of school feeding to LunchBox in the new academic year.

We provide subsidized, nutritious school meals every school day to schools that are currently not covered by the Government School Feeding Programme—helping schools provide meals while keeping their focus on education.

🌱💚 Strengthening Nutrition Through Partnerships!

At Food for All Africa, we believe that tackling hunger is not only about providing food — it is about ensuring access to nutritious meals that help children, families, and vulnerable communities thrive.

Through our partnership with Chale Spirulina, we regularly enrich meals served through our programs with high-quality spirulina, a nutrient-dense superfood that helps improve the nutritional value of the food we provide.

During our recent visit to the Chale Spirulina farm, we were honored to receive their second-quarter donation of over 15kg of spirulina sprinkle and powder to support our ongoing nutrition interventions across Ghana.

This generous contribution strengthens our commitment to delivering healthier meals through initiatives such as our LunchBox School Feeding Initiative and other food support programs, ensuring that the communities we serve receive not just food, but nourishment.

Partnerships like this demonstrate the power of collaboration in building a more sustainable and food-secure future. Together, we can transform surplus resources into healthier lives and stronger communities.

🌍 Turning Food Waste into Climate Action

Food waste doesn’t just represent lost nutrition—it is also a significant environmental challenge. When organic waste is sent to landfill, it decomposes without oxygen and releases methane, a greenhouse gas with a much greater warming effect than carbon dioxide over the short term.

At Food4All Africa UK Centre for Sustainable Nutrition & Innovation , we believe in creating value from every part of the food system. Through partnerships with innovators, we support circular solutions that transform inedible organic waste into valuable products that benefit people, agriculture, and the planet.

As part of our Youth Exchange Programme in Ghana, our Youth Fellow Sabina visited Okumkom Biodigital BSF Farms in Offinso, Ashanti region to witness how Black Soldier Fly biodigital technology converts organic waste into:
🐛 Sustainable insect protein for poultry and aquaculture feed productions.
🌱 Organic biofertilizer for healthier soils
♻️ Circular economy solutions that reduce waste and greenhouse gas emissions

The visit showcased how innovation can address food waste, improve food security, create green jobs, and build more resilient food systems.

Together, we are shaping a future where food waste becomes a valuable resource—not a burden on our environment.

🌍🇬🇭 Youth Exchange in Action: Learning from Ghana’s Sustainable Food Systems

Our Youth Exchange Fellow, Sabina “Ama” Feder, continues to immerse herself in Ghana’s vibrant food system, discovering innovative solutions that are transforming nutrition, food security, and reducing food loss.

This week, Ama travelled to the historic city of Kumasi, where she toured the operations of Chalé Spirulina | B Corp —a valued partner of Food For All Africa that produces spirulina, one of nature’s most nutrient-dense superfoods. Rich in plant-based protein, iron, vitamins, antioxidants, and essential amino acids, spirulina is helping improve nutrition while offering a sustainable, environmentally friendly source of protein. Through partnerships like this, Food for All Africa is exploring innovative ways to strengthen community nutrition and support vulnerable populations.

Ama also visited the Kumasi Institute of Tropical Agriculture to learn about their innovative charcoal refrigerator, a low-cost, electricity-free cooling technology that helps smallholder farmers preserve fresh produce, extend shelf life, and significantly reduce post-harvest losses. Innovations like these are critical in building resilient food systems and ensuring more nutritious food reaches the people who need it most.

At Food for All Africa and the Food4All Africa UK Centre for Sustainable Nutrition & Innovation, we believe that sharing knowledge across borders empowers the next generation of leaders to develop practical, sustainable solutions to global food insecurity.
