The ASI Kidney Health Foundation has officially begun its mission.We started this journey by visiting the Children’s Renal Unit at Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital to donate and support young children fighting kidney disease.
​Seeing these brave children reminds us why our work is so necessary, but we cannot do it alone. We are calling on government leaders, Philanthropists, business owners, and everyone in our community to join hands with us. Kidneys are bean-shaped organs that control water levels and eliminate waste products through urine. Kidney diseases in children can be acute (sudden) or chronic (permanent), and the outcomes may vary accordingly. These conditions affect the function and structure of the kidneys, impairing their ability to filter waste from the blood and produce urine Genetic kidney diseases are more prevalent in children than adults. Most of these diseases are diagnosed during prenatal testing and require medical or surgical treatment. Other kidney issues, such as urinary tract infections (UTI), may occur later in life.
