From April 28–29, 2026, CDD-Ghana’s International Desk convened editors, senior journalists, and media practitioners from across West Africa for a two-day capacity-building workshop in Accra.

Participants reflect on the importance of stronger collaboration among African journalists and the need for the continent’s media to shape and tell its own stories. Others highlighted gaining deeper insight into foreign policy and geopolitical dynamics affecting the region.

The workshop focused on strengthening reporting on foreign influence, disinformation, and democratic governance in West Africa.

Corruption Watch resumes on Joy FM this Wednesday with a discussion on compliance with Ghana’s Right to Information law.

This edition will focus on why some public institutions continue to withhold information even after administrative penalties have been imposed. The broader concern is whether penalties alone are enough to ensure transparency and accountability.

CDD, IMANI, 12 Other CSOs File to Join Supreme Court Case Challenging OSP Act

Fourteen civil society organisations, including IMANI Africa, have applied to join a Supreme Court case challenging the constitutionality of the Office of the Special Prosecutor Act, 2017 (Act 959).

The coalition filed the application in the case of Adamtey v Attorney-General (Suit No. J1/3/2026), arguing that the matter raises significant constitutional and public interest questions concerning Ghana’s anti-corruption framework.

In a joint statement issued on May 6, the organisations stressed that their intervention is intended to support constitutional interpretation and institutional accountability, not partisan interests.

In the statement, the coalition emphasised:

🔸 Commitment to constitutionalism and accountable governance.
🔸 Protection of independent anti-corruption institutions.
🔸 The value of civil society participation in constitutional adjudication.
🔸 Their institutional memory from involvement in drafting and advocating for Act 959.

“It is motivated solely by a shared commitment to constitutionalism, accountable governance, anti-corruption, institutional integrity, and the preservation of independent public institutions.”

The groups are seeking to participate as amici curiae, or friends of the court, enabling them to provide legal and policy perspectives without becoming direct parties to the dispute.

The coalition includes Ghana Center For Democratic Development (CDD-Ghana), IMANI Africa, Transparency International Ghana, Democracy Hub, STAR-Ghana Foundation, Africa Centre for Energy Policy, Penplusbytes, Africa Education Watch, and several other civil society organisations.
